GH2017.51 Whatever it Takes
Things to know about this chapter...there is food involved. If what the Q's
are having sounds good the recipes are at http://www.epicurious.com If the
food that Cari is making sounds good to you start sucking up to my
stepmother because that is the way she cooks everytime I visit. And the
superstition about the fish is true! Deb
Billy is about to enter the computer room to talk to Jerry about the visit
to the Banking Centre when he hears the voices within. Blending against the
outer wall, he listens.
Georgie: You know I like you . . . rough. But I think I'd like you all
hard and smooth too.
Jerry: Keep talking; Darlin, you might get your way with me yet.
Georgie: (crooning) I'll make you feel so good you'll never let anyone else
touch you.
Jerry: (laughing) Are you trying to bewitch me?
Georgie: I'm going to be so indispensable to you that you'll never be rid
of me. Whatever you need, I'll get for you.
Jerry: Darlin, I already rely on you too much.
Georgie: There's no such thing and if there was, it's definitely mutual.
This is as it was meant to be.
Jerry: You think this is what Frisco had in mind when he gave you to me?
Georgie: He's always known I was a Daddy's girl and that I would do my best
to please you. So are you going to finally let me have MY way with you? You
have been making all the decisions lately; lets do it my way just this
once-- you might like it.
Jerry: That's what I'm afraid of. And if I do like it; how will I get
through the day without you?
Georgie: How have I been able to get through the nights?
Jerry: You haven't.
Georgie: Exactly. Let me do this for you. I'll enjoy it as much as you do,
I swear.
Jerry: How can I resist? I'm in your hands, darlin. (Georgie sets the
computer to work. By habit she arranges to have the task accessed by
password only. Jerry puts an arm around her shoulders and her arm around his
waist; they walk off to their rooms. Billy remains unseen by the doorway
watching the couple leave.)
Billy: (aroused but fighting it) A witch is right. She's cast a spell on
him. Hell, she'd be able to do me too. (Walking into the computer room, he
attempts to access the information that Jerry got at the Banking Centre that
day, but is frustrated when he comes across the password block.) Passwords?
That has never been your style, old man. She's got a ring through your
nose. I guess it is up to me to make sure she doesn't lead you right over a
cliff.
The apartment: The aroma of peppers, ginger and garlic fill the air as
Stefan and Laura arrive. Lucky is in the kitchen harassing Cari and Brooke
as Cari cooks.
Stefan: Where is Lesley Lu?
Lucky: She's in the bedroom on the phone talking to the contractor.
Stefan: I thought the plans weren't ready yet?
Brooke: I finished the bathrooms before Lu got home so it was just a matter
of taking all the info to Greg. Cari's kitchen design was basically
finished. Greg just had to make a mirror of it for half of the condos.
Cari: (from the stove) The tile and cabinets all come in later anyway. As
long as the electrical and gas placements are decided it's easy enough for
him to rough it in.
Laura: Is there anything I can do to help, Cari?
Cari: Not really, unless you want to get everyone started on wine? Brooke
has the table set and the soup is ready when you are. It's Chinese night at
Chez Cari.
Stefan:( surveying the table) There seems to be one place setting missing?
Cari: I'll be busy cooking, but don't worry; I can hear everything you are
saying. (Lu comes out of her bedroom) Good everyone is here-- sit, sit.
Time for you to see what I can do. Oh by the way, does anyone have a
problem with spicy?
Meanwhile, over at the Quartermaines, Carly meets Jason and Robin at the door.
Carly: ( kissing them both and then taking their coats) Where are the kids?
Robin: Not old enough for a formal dinner at the Quartermaines. We've a
tough enough time keeping the glasses at our house without risking the
crystal here.
Jason: Is Anthony here?
Carly: This was so last minute he was already scheduled to work at the
police station. They've been having those sobriety check points.
Jason: It's just as well. What we'll be chatting about this evening would
send him straight to Garcia.
Carly: I didn't know this was going to be an ELQ power dinner. I invited
Lucas. He's in having a drink with Alan, Monica and Dylan.
Robin: I thought he was in New York City?
Carly: He just moved back to town and brought his business with him.
Jason: He used to have ties to the Cassadine; didn't he?
Carly: They set up a trust for him when Bobbie and Stefan split. Why?
Jason: Then he needs to hear this too. ( Just then Emily and Tom walk in
the front door)
Jr.: Hear about what? How I got frisked at the gate? Why Em and I are
moving to the west wing?
Emily: Jason, you should give us more warning about these little get
togethers; it was darn near impossible to get our schedules arranged.
Jason: (gives Em a hug and kiss but looks at Tom rather sternly) I don't
ask often.
Emily: I know, that's what has my curiosity peaked.
Jason: I need to get everyone together for this; I don't plan on repeating
myself.
Robin: (under her breath) Come on-- Meal time is happy time.
Jason: I've never been one for Dr. Spock, Robin and you know it. But fine,
I'll wait until after dinner to share the joyful news.
Emily: I'm so relieved. I don't know how I avoided getting an eating
disorder as many meals as Edward and Alan spent picking at each other.
Carly: AJ and Justus called, and they are on their way. I told them cook
was throwing their plates out if it took much longer.
Jason: I don't know why the kitchen staff here is so temperamental.
Robin: That is because Mrs. Landers spoils you, love. ( The five of them
join the others in the front room)
The apartment:
Stefan: So as soon as Jason takes action on the ELQ ship that is carrying
the contraband, there may be a hostile response. (Stefan loses grip on the
prawn he is attempting to carry to his mouth with chopsticks) Carida, why do
I think that you selected this menu with the hopes of distracting me?
Cari: Which part? The chopsticks, the spice or the fact that there's no neat
way to eat those szechuan prawns?
Lucky: You should have seen her at the fishmarket down in Chinatown. She
was a woman on a mission. And it was like she was giving me a lesson on how
to select the freshest seafood. She had the owner pulling what was left of
his hair out when she started selecting this seabass. (He points to what is
left of the whole fish that had been served with a sauce of soy and ginger
and garnished with green onion, sliced green and red peppers. Reaching out
with his chopsticks, Lucky starts to flip the sea bass over so that the
other half of the fish will be exposed; he is startled at Cari's cry)
Cari: NO! Not like that. Taking a spare plate, she peels the skeleton of
the fish from the tender flesh below.
Brooke: What's the big deal?
Cari: As much as Stefan has been talking about the ELQ ship; it just had me
freaked. It's bad luck to flip a fish over like that. Think about it.
Laura: I see-- it symbolizes the capsizing of a boat.
Lu: Spooky!
Cari: Better safe than sorry. At least now you won't tick off any Chinese
when you're eating whole fish in a restaurant.
Stefan: Better safe than sorry . . . My point exactly.
Tunisia- Georgie sits in the courtyard and nibbles on a plate of fresh
fruit. Billy joins her bringing out two margaritas.
Billy: I hear this is your favorite drink?
Georgie: (smiling at him) The only one I crave on occasion. I think it is
the salt. Would you like some of this? It isn't even spring back in New
York. I won't be getting fruit like this for months yet-- fresh, ripe
delicious. (She pops another morsel in her mouth closing her eyes to
concentrate on the flavor.)
Billy: You seem to enjoy your food.
Georgie: Usually. Only evil thoughts would put me off of this banquet.
Billy: Where is Jerry?
Georgie: He had some appointments in town; he should be back soon.
Billy: How unchivalrous of him to leave you alone on your vacation. In his
place, I would have spent all my time entertaining you.
Georgie: ( straightening) Jerry doesn't need to entertain me.
Billy: Oh that's right-- it's your job to entertain him.
Georgie sighs: I guess happy time is over. You know, I could have guessed
you were a reporter just by listening to you. You only see what you expect
to see. And you make conclusions without the facts.
Billy: Then give me the facts, sweetheart.
Georgie: Ask me the right questions. My life is an open book.
Billy: How soon after meeting Jerry did you start sleeping with him?
Georgie: ( a glitter in her eyes) Within days.
Billy: How did you meet him?
Georgie: He was a patient at the hospital I work at. He and I hit it off
like we'd know each other for weeks instead of days. I got him an apartment
as soon as he was released. I don't know; I think I slept with him that
night. The hospital would have caused too many questions although the other
nurses there thought I worked miracles with him.
Billy: Why are you with a man who is old enough to be your father?
Georgie: Because he's not my father. Older men have always had a thing for
me. I just decided to work with it rather than fight it. (Tiring of the
game, Georgie is blunt with Billy) Jerry gives me what I need and he knows
I'll do anything to get it.
Billy: You sound like an addict.
Georgie: There are certain things that people can't do without.
Billy: And Jerry is the only one that can give them to you?
Georgie: ( her voice growing harder) Are you applying for the position?
It's occupied at present but leave your resume at the door. Maybe I'll
contact you if there is ever an opening . . . or not. (Georgie picks up the
margarita and drains it. Standing, she pushes the fruit plate to Billy)
Question and answer period is over. Why don't you finish this? I've lost my
appetite.
The Quartermaines in the midst of a sit- down dinner for eleven. The first
course of blue Cheese and Walnut SoufflÈs and Mesclun with a Red Pepper
Vinaigrette has been taken away. The maid places the Grilled Veal Chops with
a Morel Sauce and New Potatoes in Chive Butter in front of the diners.
Monica: The salads are tomatoes from the greenhouse, Em. ( She refers to
the Warm Cherry Tomato Salad that is being served as another side dish to
the veal chops.)
Emily: I'm always amazed at what cook can whip up on a moment's notice.
Jason: It seems like a lot of fuss.
Robin: But delicious. Monica, the tomatoes are a surprise I wasn't
expecting tomatoes until August! Carly, this is a marvelous table. (Dylan
and Justus, realizing that Jason is becoming impatient, help Robin cover the
lapses in conversation until the entree is cleared away and the dessert of
Strawberry Napoleons and Lemon Cream is served. Jason looks over at Carly
sending a silent message that she easily reads)
Carly: That will be all. I'll let you know when we're done in here. ( As
the maid leaves shutting the door behind her, Jason rises to stand behind
his chair.)
Jason: Lucas, Emily and Tom-- this may be news to you but it should be an
update for the rest of the family. Someone is coming after ELQ and maybe
the Cassadine.
AJ: You still haven't convinced me that Nikolas isn't behind all of this.
Jason: Look, if you want to get into a contest to see has the longer stream
that's your business; I'm dealing with the safety of this family and the
company.
Justus: Jason . . . ( Jason steps back taking a deep breath)
Jason ( his voice controlled once again): The next shipment of guns is not
going to arrive. They will be expecting it in just over two weeks. If they
discover that either the Cassadine or the Quartermaines had anything to do
with the loss of the shipment, they will be coming after the family. These
are terrorists; they specialize in death: sudden, unexpected, violent death.
Dylan: You said IF they find out?
Jason: Glad to see you thinking, Hornsby. The plan is to set it up so that
they turn on each other. But since I haven't discovered yet who the traitor
is within our organization, there is always a possibility that they will see
through my ruse. Emily, if you want a trip to the rainforest; now is the
time. You either have to be far away and out of communication or under my
thumb. People that work at GH will have to coordinate their schedules and
I'll be providing a driver.
Lucas: Why am I being included in this?
Jason: When Carly married AJ you became a part of the family. Sorry guy.
I bet you never thought that fifteen minutes in Vegas would paint a target
on your back.
Robin: JASON!
Jason: That wasn't fair; Sorry Carly. Lucas, your trust from the
Cassadine is a matter of record; you might have been a target anyway.
Lucas: I've been in contact with Lu Spencer; she is remodeling a condo for me.
Jason: Is that in the warehouse I have been hearing about?
Lucas: Yeah.
Jason: There shouldn't be a problem. Keep a low profile about the move.
Maybe maintain a cover of living at the PC hotel.
AJ: Great, so if you are serious, then we'll have terrorists crawling all
over the hotel!
Dylan: What about Brooke? She's been hanging out with the Cassadine quite
a bit.
Jason: Stefan is talking to her now. Brooke is going to be out of town
touring. One of my people is a music lover; he'll accompany her.
The apartment:
Brooke: So Nik won't put up anymore road blocks to my going on the road?
Stefan: No. In fact it would be in both of your interests to back off
seeing each other for awhile.
Brooke: (Shaking a finger in his face) Old man, that is so close to
violating your promise, it isn't even funny. I really don't recall
inviting you into my love life.
Stefan: True. I am giving you information. Do with it as you will. It is
my understanding that one of Jason's people will be going on the road with
you. This was arranged between him and your mother without my interference.
Lu: Brooke, I am moving back to the island when you leave on tour.
Stefan: Thank you angel, for being so reasonable.
Lu: OH don't thank me yet, Daddy. I'm still going to work. And I'll take
precautions there, but I am not going to barricade myself on the island 24
hours a day. I'd go insane. Cari, this General tsao's chicken is fabulous.
You should make up a bunch for the club.
Cari: It would sell a lot of beer
Lucky (Exhaling several times before grabbing the water glass in front of
him draining it and then reaching for Brooke's water glass and draining it
also): You aren't kidding.
Brooke ( snagging her water glass back from Lucky): Wimp.
Cari: If Brooke is on tour and Lu is on the island, where will I be?
Stefan: In a condo overlooking the water hopefully. If there are any delays
it would mean that you and your father would be on the island for the
duration of the crisis.
Cari: No offense, but I don't think that Daddy will go for that.
Tunisia - Billy sits in the courtyard alone sipping his margarita and
reviewing his conversation with Georgie when he hears Jerry's voice as he
enters the enclosure.
Jerry: Hey! Enjoying the sun? I thought Georgie would be out here.
Billy: She went in earlier. (looking at Jerry for the first time he
notices that he is clean shaven) I think it has been at least a million
years since I saw you without a beard.
Jerry: Georgie thought I was looking a little rough. She volunteered to
take it off for me.
Billy: You've forgotten how to shave; it's been so long?
Jerry: I'm still doing rehab on this arm besides Georgie is like going to
the barbershop for a shave-- an event right down to the warm towels to
soften the beard and the straight razor. The girl spoils me.
Billy: (realizing that he misinterpreted the earlier conversation.) What
does every person need?
Jerry:(laughing before answering ) Where did that come from? Food, water
and sleep, I guess. Deprivation of any of those for any length of time will
kill or make you insane. Why do you ask?
Billy: Something I heard someone say.
