GH2017.35 Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

Georgie provides introductions to Jerry and Cari.

Georgie: These are my roommates: Lu Spencer and . . .
Cari: Oh my GOD! You are Brooke Ashton!
Lu: Was I the ONLY one who did not know?
Brooke:( Laughing) It is getting more common the longer the CD is out . . .
Hello, I'm Brooke. (She extends a hand to Jerry who shakes it politely.
Jerry moves away to whisper in Georgie's ear)
Jerry: Who the Hell is Brooke Ashton? (Brooke starts laughing harder as
Cari groans)
Cari: Daddy, I can't believe you! Don't you listen to any music from this
decade? ( Jerry is looking bewildered)
Brooke: Perhaps you have heard of my father . . . Eddie Maine and the Idle
Rich? My Pop is Eddie Maine.
Jerry: Now I have heard of them. In fact, (turning to his daughter) Baby,
I think you were conceived to one of their songs . . . something about
French perfume. ( Cari grabs her forehead and shakes her head, horribly
embarrassed)
Cari: That was really more information than I wanted . . . Thanks, Dad.
Jerry: No problem. I hope that taught you something about making fun of
your old man. You may be younger and on your good days, smarter but I am
older and know more dirty tricks.
Georgie: (looking at Lu who is staring first at Cari and then at Georgie)
Lu, Are you okay?
Lu: It is amazing! I know that she is taller than you and your eyes are a
different color but you could be sisters . . . She looks more like you than
Maxie does!
Georgie: ( turns to Jerry and starts fluttering her eyelashes at him.) Daddy?
Jerry: Sick, Georgie, really Sick! ( Just then the doorman buzzes from
downstairs announcing that the pizza delivery is on its way up) I think
that is my cue. (He reaches for his wallet putting money in Georgie's
outreached hand) She thinks she already has me trained.
Cari: Yeah, I think it is her dirty tricks that I want to learn.
Lu: We taught her everything she knows.
Jerry: Maybe this is not such a good idea.
Georgie: ( coming back with two pizza boxes hands Jerry his change) No
backing out now, you promised me sun and sand. I think that cocoa butter
and Margaritas were mentioned. Let's go set this up on the kitchen table.
(As the women move to the dining area Jerry says in a voice only loud enough
for Georgie to hear)
Jerry: Like we could get tequila or any other liquor where we are going.
Georgie: Then I guess you'll have to buy me some on the plane, Darlin'.
Jerry: It's a deal, Darlin'. (They join the others.) I was noticing that
quilt you have on the wall in the living room. I think I saw something by
the same person over at Wyndemere-- something about the way the colors are
put together. My place looks like a hotel room; I could use something like
that for my walls . . . think you could give me the name of the person who
made it?
Lu: I think that could be arranged. I made both of them.
Jerry: Then you are Laura's daughter?
Cari: Daddy, I could have told you that. I have seen pictures of you. My
mom has pictures of everyone. She saves things like that: pictures,
clippings, letters . . .
Georgie: Jerry, you are living in a hotel room. That is what those
businessman rooms are.
Cari: Well, that will change now that I am here. Did I tell you, Daddy?
I'm staying.
Jerry: What about school?!
Cari: I can register for some classes at the University. Mom and I talked
about it and decided you have been living out of a suitcase long enough. I
have been thinking about it; Port Charles would be the perfect base for you
AND me.
Brooke: How can you be going to the university? You don't look any older
than my sister Brandy!
Cari: Swiss boarding school. They drum in all the basics early and then
start in on "finishing" a person. Mom likes me better unpolished and rough
as she calls it so she supported me ditching.
Jerry: I have no say in this, do I?
Cari: Don't you want me?
Jerry: More than anything, but Baby you are going to have to be patient; I
have never done this full time before. I don't know . . . what is the
first step? A house?
Cari: A car? (Jerry sends a meaningful glance to Georgie who shrugs)
Brooke: (in a dreamy voice) Your own bathroom. (Everyone looks at her as
if she is certifiable) Come on, I was raised on the road. And when I
wasn't on the road, I was at my Gram's house with four sisters. Quality
bathroom time and Hot water became a fond dream.
Lu: The three of us put this apartment together; it seems like overnight.
It is still not quite finished. Thinking back on it, Georgie was in China
most of that time. So Brooke and I did most of it.
Georgie: I resent that remark! I scavenged the brownstone!
Lu: Okay, it was the three of us. The point is between us we can turn a
space into a home. If that is what you want? (Looking between Cari and Jerry)
Jerry: Well, I know from my daughter's visits before what kind of devil's
work Cari can do when not kept busy. Cari, do you want to find a house for
us? I'd stick around but when Georgie and I arranged this holiday I set up
some business appointments that I can't cancel now.
Georgie: (punching him in the arm) You are SUCH a romantic!
Jerry: Ow! That hurt, you know you have some really dominating tendencies!
Georgie: Not in front of the C-H-I-L-D.
Cari: ( Laughing) Please! Georgie, you have seen and heard how protective
Daddy is. It didn't stop him from dragging me into any dive in whatever
country we were in because he heard they had good oysters. ( She shudders)
Jerry: I thought you liked oysters?
Cari: I love you; oysters, on the other hand, have the texture of snot.
Georgie: Jerry, Is the vacation off if I tell you I don't like oysters
either? Jellyfish is not too bad.
Lu: PLEASE! I am still trying to eat some of this pizza. When did you try
jellyfish?
Georgie: Daddy took me to a Chinese restaurant that served it in a salad
with cucumber, really good. Course I didn't think so after he told me what
it was.
Cari: Your father did that to you too? Different ethnic restaurants, have
to try some of everything and then he'd tell you what it was?
Georgie: I got my revenge! Daddy was never as good at languages as I was
so I started ordering in the restaurants for both of us!
Jerry: That is it. You two are not spending time together. ( The two
blondes turn to laugh at him matching mischievous glints in their different
hued eyes) It really is spooky how well you two get along. Lu, It was very
kind of you to offer to help; If you were serious I would like to take you
up on it.
Lu: I'd love to. It seems like since I got back from Europe all I have
done is work at the club; this will be fun.
Brooke: Stefan should be finishing my portrait soon. At least I hope so
because Grams' birthday is coming up. That will free my mornings. So we
can go on a real estate search. I need to explore Port Charles anyway. I
just arrived a few months ago. My mom has been known to do that . . . use
Real estate agents as tour guides.
Cari: This sounds really wonderful but how am I going to get a Realtor to
take me seriously. They will take one look at a 16 year old kid and laugh in
my face.
Jerry starts to bluster but Lu puts a hand up: I don't just accessorize
homes; I do people also. The Realtors will see what they expect to see.
There will be no problem there. The paperwork on the other hand could be a
problem.
Georgie: Email, faxes and overnight mail!
Brooke: How long are you two going to be gone?
Jerry, putting a hand against Georgie's cheek, answers seriously, without
lies: Until Georgie doesn't have those dark circles under her eyes and her
laughter comes from her heart again. (Lightening his voice he adds) So it
could be a week or three. No procrastinating Cari. Since I am going to
plan on moving into my new house when I get back, I'll be letting the
apartment go. So will you be staying here or on the island?
Brooke: Here
Lu: Here
Cari: Here. Thanks. You know, Dad, if I am going to be doing all this
running around, I really should have a car.
Jerry: No!
Cari: Fine. Be that way, but I AM going to learn to drive while you are gone.
Jerry pales: Georgie is going to get plenty of rest; I on the other hand
am going to have nightmares.
Georgie: I'll hold your hand.
Lu: My brother Lucky taught me to drive.
Georgie: Me too. Bootleg turns and everything.
Lu: How do you feel about cigars and pink Cadillac convertibles?
