GH2016.12 Goodbyes

The Gatehouse of the Quartermaine mansion. Tom and Emily Hardy are having
lunch while she reviews her notes on the upcoming trip to Thailand.

Jr: It's our last day, can you put that away?
Emily: I'll be back before Christmas.
Jr: I hate it when you leave.
Emily: Tom, this is important work. People don't have to die from AIDS
anymore if we can just get them the vaccine.
Jr: That doesn't mean that you have to save the world.
Emily: Why do we have to fight? This is something I can do; I want to do.
Thanks to the Q's and the Cassadine foundation, I'll be saving lives.
Jr: You can save lives here in Port Charles, Emily. So why Thailand, why
the rainforest, why every godforsaken back water country thousands of miles
away?
Emily: Don't pout it isn't pretty.
Jr: Screw Pretty! I am being serious. I want a wife and kids and you are
always flitting off some place or other. I want to talk about this.
Emily: (finally getting mad) It is not flitting damn it. You knew about
my work before we got married. How can you say something so Selfish?
Jr: I am being selfish, so what? I want a wife; not someone passing
through who happens to be hot in the sack.
Emily: then you should not have married me. I swear I love you to death but
the constant belittling of my work and the things I think are important has
got to stop. Why can't you support me? why can't you understand? (Tom is
silent) I'm going up to the main house to say goodbye to Monica and Alan.
Jr: I have to go to work. I won't be here when you get back.
Emily: Damn it, Tom! (Emily swallows what she wants to say) What
ever...I'll see you before Christmas. (she walks out)

Meanwhile at the Morgan residence.

Robin: I'll be back before Christmas.
Jason: (coming up behind her and giving her a big squeeze) That's all I
want from Santa.
Robin: (turning in his embrace) What are you and the kids going to be doing
while I'm gone?
Jason: Missing you.
Robin: You know I will always come home to you. (kissing him)
Jason: Always. Michael and Anna have been working on their Christmas lists
since Thanksgiving. I'll need you back to help put things together.
Robin: I promise. And I'll bring them back something from Thailand.
Hopefully we wont have to make too many more trips.
Jason: Robin, You'll find another windmill to tilt at. You want everyone
to be as Happy as we are.
Robin: Yes, I do. Promise I won't have to worry while I am gone.
Jason : The house will still be standing.
Robin: Oh? Have you made a pact with your daughter?
Jason : No I made a pact with YOUR daughter AND Stone. He's going to pick
up the slack on babysitting if I have to go out of town. Most of my trips
have been postponed but I kept the trip to Brooklyn, figured I would see
Mrs. Cerrullo and snitch on her granddaughter.
Robin: Don't tease. You told me that Luke's has been SRO for her dates.
Brooke has been packing them in. Oh Gees look at the time. you have 45
minutes to get me to the airport if you want to give me a proper send off.
Jason: Got your passport and tickets?
Robin: (nodding) Next trip I'll fly back through Switzerland; we can have
another honeymoon.
Jason: See what I mean, already planning the next trip!

45 minutes later at the airport.

Robin: Hi Emily. Did Tom already leave?
Emily: He had to work. I took a cab in .
Jason: Works for me, two of my favorite girls all to myself. You should
have called though we would have picked you up.
Emily: I'll beg a lift on the way back . I'm going to the newsstand do you
need anything?
Robin: Gum.
Jason: come here. (he draws Robin into his embrace tilting her head up for
his kiss)
Robin : You make Airports fun. I sometimes think we should just come here
and hang out at the gates kissing. People coming and going, reunions and
goodbyes.
Jason: Never goodbye for us, sweetheart.
Announcer: Ladies and Gentlemen we will be boarding our flight briefly for
continuous service to Bangkok through Los Angles. Passengers with small
children or special needs may board now.
Robin : they will be calling first class next.
Jason : I knew there was a reason why I shouldn't have upgraded your tickets.
Emily: Well I appreciate it on these long flights. Here is your gum.
Jason: (drawing Emily into his hug) Take care of each other.
Announcer: Ladies and Gentlemen holding first class tickets please begin
boarding.
Jason: (kisses both women) I'll see you both in a few weeks. Call if there
are any delays.
Robin: No way. We'll be home for Christmas if we have to hitch a ride from
Santa.
Emily: and Christmas Eve I'll help you guys put together all the toys.
Robin we should go. (Robin reaches up for a final kiss and in a tradition
that started long ago)
Robin : See ya soon. I love you.
Jason: I love you, too. I love you, always. (together the two women board
as Jason waits watching as the passengers board until the plane reverses
from the gate. )
Lucky: Hey Jason. (he stands with Jason watching the departing plane.)
Jason: You could have come over.
Lucky: Didn't want anyone to feel uncomfortable.
Jason: One of these days you are going to have to tell her how you feel.
Lucky: (changing the subject) How about heading back to the club? I'll buy
the first round.
