Chapter 80 & 81

Chapter 80 Perspective

Kevin sits in the private airport; an array of emotions crashing over his
body in waves. He understands Lucy's reasoning, as much as he hates to
admit it, she is right. His first instinct is to shelter her, to keep
her away from the madness. She has three more weeks to go in her
pregnancy. Nothing is more important than keeping Lucy and their
children safe. He lets out a sigh as he thinks about everything Lucy and
Cassidy said. 'It's not like she is in incapable hands. The support team
available for her astounds me, but I'm waiting for Scott to pick me up.'
He shudders at the thought of Scott being Lucy's hero. He's secure in
his marriage to Lucy, but Scott is..well Scott. 'Relax Kevin,' he
chastises himself, 'Scott is Lucy's friend. He's gone to great lengths to
protect her and the babies. Hell, he's flying out to pick me up. Scott--
did he have to be the only friend that had a plane?'

Scott nears the airport as he grumbles to himself. "Great, my biggest
nightmare realized, just me, Kev, and the open air. At least he can't
toss me out of the plane, he'd die too. Besides, this might be a good
thing, yeah, like getting a cavity drilled without Novocaine. Good, not
enjoyable but at least you aren't a drooling idiot afterward. Lucy needs
him; I can do this. I'll even practice that sensitivity stuff Karen is
always squawking about." He smoothly lands the plane with hardly a bump
and then taxi's over to the terminal.

Kevin watches as the familiar figure approaches him. His anger and
frustration topple over as Scott says casually. 'How's it hanging, Kev?"
Punching him in the jaw, Kevin looks from his fist to Scott with shock.
"I didn't mean to do that."

Scott shakes it off as he mutters back. "What the hell took you so long?
Luke used to punch me the first time he'd see me, and he stole Laura
from me. You ready to jet?"

"Scott, I shouldn't have hit you, that was rash and immature, and wasn't
a proper outlet for my anger and frustration." Kevin replies calmly.

"If you continue that psycho babble in the plane, I'm gonna deck you
just to get some peace. You don't fool me, Collins, you enjoyed hitting
me-- consider it your freebie. A gift from the new kinder, gentler Scott
Baldwin." Loading Kev's stuff into the plane, he checks with the
technician then boards the plane. "OK, let's get my baby up in the air."

Kevin chuckles as puts on his seatbelt. "You and Lucky are a lot alike."

Scotty quips back. "You really want me to hit you back, dontcha?" He
checks his gauges and starts the plane up, not noticing the two people
garbed in black watching the plane with a look of vacant contented bliss
on their faces as one lifts a gadget in his hand.

"I only meant Lucky treats that Caddy of his much like you treat your
plane." Kevin says trying to make conversation.

"Aww, Cassidy was telling me about the Caddy. She's a great kid, Kev."

Cocking an eyebrow, Kevin tries to mask his amusement. "I wouldn't have
thought you and Cassidy would like each other."

"She hates me, but Cassidy has spunk and I admire that." Noticing the
grim look fall over Kevin's face, Scott chuckles. "Relax, I'm not after
your little sister. I'm quite happy in the relationship I'm in now."

"Gina? Lucy told me the two of you're still going strong." Kevin says,
hiding his smile over the other comments Lucy made about Scott's dating
the much younger woman.

Rolling his eyes, Scott says dryly. "Lucy thinks Gina is a great girl,
but the key word is girl. Karen has been pretty cool about it. I figure
it has to be the weirdest for her, since Gina used to be her
sister-in-law."

"How is Lucy?" Kevin says changing the subject.

"Honestly? I'm worried. She isn't doing the babble thing she usually
does. It's like she's so worried that some of her spirit is gone. I want
these bastards in a bad way." Scott mutters angrily as he thinks of ways
to torture the people responsible for targeting his family.

"She seemed different on the phone too. How long before we make it back
to Port Charles?" He asks impatiently.

"A couple hours. Look, something has been bothering me about this. It's
not like it's a scorned lover or anything. I also think there are more
than a couple people involved. You're still writing loony books, could
they be your subjects?" Scott asks as Kevin's eyes fill with fear.

Kevin swallows hard. "The thought crossed my mind when Cassidy filled
me in on the events. I really hope we're wrong."

Ned walks out from the shower in their hotel room and stops cold as he
takes notice of an irate Lois screaming into the telephone. "You listen
to me, Bucko. I don't care what this wacko girl says, I am the one and
only Mrs. Ned Ashton. No, I know she said she's Eddie's wife, Eddie is
Nedly..No-- they're the same person! You're new around here, aren't ya?
Look, this Trixie girl was cute when she sent the t-shirt, she was
tolerable when she sent the boxer shorts with her little message on
them, she was annoying when she started sending pics with my face cut
out and hers plastered in, but this? This crosses the line. That little
hussy is going to regret eva tryin' to pull this crap with my man."
Slamming down the phone she flings a tabloid at him. "Read this smut!"

Ned picks up the paper and examines the cover story. "Real Wife of Eddie
Maine claims he left her and Baby for Brooklyn Bimbo." Stifling a laugh,
he looks up at his wife. "Baby, this is garbage."

"I know this is garbage! She's telling people she's your wife! That she
is the mother of your child! I have given you five daughters! I'm the
Brooklyn Bimbo?? She's going down, Nedly." Lois files her nails angrily
as she envisions meeting Trixie in a dark alley.

"I'll fill out another police incident report. You know, the wacko that
claimed to be Letterman's wife was eventually put in jail." He picks up
the phone as he makes the call.

"Yeah? Well John Lennon was killed in his doorway, I want this floozy
behind bars. Otherwise I'm calling Jase and he'll handle it." Lois says
as she glares at the headlines.

In a room down the hall, a young brunette giggles with glee at the
headline. "Eddie Baby, don't you fear. Trixie's gonna rescue you from
that evil wench who calls herself your manager. I know you only stay
with her 'cause of her mob ties but never fear, my love. Nothing can
stand in our way. We'll live together happily ever after." She studies
her face in the mirror as she tries on the wig she has especially made.
The transformation is amazing as she practices her Brooklyn accent. "I'm
Lois Ashton, what's it to ya?"

Emily sits opposite of Evan as she listens to him explain his actions.

"Em, I was an idiot, I never should have applied without checking with
you first. You have every right to be angry with me." He starts off.

"Yeah, tell me something I don't know." She spits back angrily. She is
determined not to cave in after just one apologetic smile.

"I want to discuss this with you, if you're still interested in
discussing it." He offers as he stares into her hurt brown eyes. He
silently berates himself for hurting her as she lets out a sigh.

"I thought you had already made up your mind. What's to discuss?" She
says with a little less anger.

"I could defer the offer and stay in school. I only have a couple more
semesters, then we can graduate together and take off to Europe like we
planned for the summer. After that, we can talk about the police
academy." He explains as a smile spreads across her face.

"You'd really decline the academy just because I wanted you to?" She
asks in disbelief.

"Not just because you wanted me too, because I am willing to compromise.
Em, you have been beyond wonderful with all the changes that have
occurred in our lives lately. Changes brought on by my past. I owe it to
us, to give the same dedication to this relationship. I think staying in
school benefits everyone, including Ian."

"I agree. You need more time to bond with him. Besides, Evan, you
understand why the idea of the police department scares me, right? Not
just the physical hazards, I mean." She says softly.

Moving besides her, he cups her chin in his hand. "Jason. I didn't even
think about that until after you stormed out of here. WE have time to
discuss all the pros and cons of this. I won't lie to you, Em. I want to
enter Law Enforcement. But I'm open to discussion about the best way to
do it." He places a gentle kiss on her lips. "I'm sorry I hurt you."

Wrapping her arms around him, she smiles. "Apology accepted."

************
Scott curses as his plane begins losing altitude. "What the hell?"

Kevin grips his seat as he yells to him. "What's going on?"

"I don't know, we've lost our fuel! I have to land this." He mutters as
he searches for a place to land before gravity takes the choice from
him.

*********

Emily emerges from the shower, her wet hair tumbling wildly over her
shoulders. Walking into the bedroom with just her towel wrapped around
her, she smiles at Evan. "Got enough candles?" She jokes as she looks
around the room, now illuminated with the soft glow of candle light.

Evan pulls her closely to him and kisses her lips gently. "You always
look beautiful, Baby, but in candlelight you're an angel." Leading her
to the bed, he takes her comb and begins to comb the tangles lightly out
of her hair. "I was thinking we should drop Ian off with his cousin
Robin and take a drive tomorrow." He suggests.

Her eyes closed as the comb massages her head, she smiles. "Any place
particular you want to go?"

"Nope, I'll leave that up to you. I just want to spend some quality time
with you. As much I as love sharing you with Ian, I think I'm growing a
bit jealous." He teases as he places the comb on the dresser.

Evan's hands begin to massage her shoulders. "I adore him, Ev. Did I
show you the picture he painted for me yesterday?"

Brushing his lips hungrily over her soft shoulder, Evan laughs. "You had
me purchase a frame for it, Sweetheart."

She turns to face him and their lips lock together as his hands pull her
towel away. "I think I should have joined you in that shower." He
mumbles.

************

Lucky snickers into the phone. "So, The Count is having a Halloween
party? Will I be searched for wooden stakes?"

Laura lets out an amused sigh. "I knew you would start. So, will you be
coming?"

"Cassidy mentioned it to me earlier, so you bet. I'll be there with
garlic garlands on." Lucky cackles as Laura busts out laughing.

"Lucky, I hope you get this out of your system before the party." She
scolds lightly. "What will you be wearing?"

"Don't know yet. OK, fess up, what's Stefan and Nikky wearing?" Lucky
asks impatiently.

"Stefan and I are going as Gomez and Morticia..." She holds the phone
away from her hear as he howls with laughter. "And Nikolas will be going
as Dracula."

Lucky holds his sides as the images flood him. "No way this will be out
of my system by Party time."

Laura sighs. "Fine, at least you're honest. I better go, Stefan is
coming to bed."

Lucky lets out a groan. "More info than I needed, Mom."

Chapter 81 Possession

Scott lands the plane roughly on the tiny island. He looks up at
Dominique's star and gives a silent thank you to her for looking out for
them. Turning to Kevin, he asks. "You okay?"

Kevin manages to open his eyes and glare at Scott. "What the hell
happened?"

"Something happened with the gas line. Someone messed with the plane. I
checked her out before I left both airports." Scott mutters angrily.

"Right, did you refuel it?" Kevin asks incredulously as he unbuckles his
seat belt and opens the plane's door.

"No, I thought I'd see how far we could get on eight bucks of gas,
genius. Of course I fueled the plane. I don't go anywhere in this baby
without it being carefully checked. I've been flying for over twelve
years, give me a little credit." Scott exits the plane and looks around
the deserted island. "Great, all we need now is Ginger and Maryann."

Kevin joins him on the beach. "Does the radio still work? We need to get
help."

"Wow, they learned you a whole bunch in that there fancy smancy school,
didn't they?" Scott replies sarcastically in a bad southern accent.
Reaching into the plane, he grabs the radio handle and radios for help.

Flopping unceremoniously on the beach, Kevin mutters under his breath.
"I knew agreeing to ride with him was a mistake."

Looking up from the radio, Scotty retorts back. "You and your friend
aren't whispering behind my back, are you?" Speaking back into the
radio, he replies. "Yeah, and Joe, put a rush order on that rescue team,
this guy I'm stuck with has a thing for blonds."

"You humor astounds me." Kevin snaps angrily.

"What's your problem, Kev?" Scott asks as he sits on the beach near the
plane.

"Let's see, someone is stalking my wife and our unborn children and I'm
stuck on an island with you." Kevin looks around the island.

"Whatcha looking for?" Scott asks.

"Food, water, anything." Kevin grumbles.

Scott walks into the plane and emerges with a cooler. "Now, I could
share with you, but what fun would that be?" He opens the cooler and
waves a bottle of water and an apple in front of him. "Tell ya what, say
pretty please with sugar on top and you can have it."

Kevin ignores him as he walks along the water's edge. Taking a bite into
one of the apples, Scotty moans with pleasure. "So juicy, so sweet, no
wonder Eve sold her soul to the devil for one of these."

"You're obnoxious." Kevin pronounces as he grabs a water bottle from the
cooler.

"Give it back, nutboy. I didn't say you could have it." Scotty growls.

"Come and get it, old man." Kevin taunts before taking a long drink from
it.

"You don't know how to be grateful. Here I am, providing you with
transportation, food and water, and you don't even say thanks." Scotty
says as he takes another bite from his apple.

"I'm sorry, Scott. Thank you for coming to pick me up and stranding us
alone on an island while Lucy's fearing for our children's safety. You
feel better?" Kevin grabs an apple and sits near the cooler.

"This has nothing to do with us being wrecked on this beach, or about
Lucy's present condition. You still hate me for hooking up with her
after your marriage crumbled." Scott muses as Kevin erupts in anger.

"HOOKING UP WITH HER???? You blatantly tried to convince her to leave
our marriage. You used your daughter to get into her good graces. You
manipulated her feelings for Serena in order for you to get closer to
her. Then, after having her back in your clutches, you left her without
a word edgewise. You better believe I'm still angry with you. Don't
think I don't realize you still want Lucy back, well-- too little, too
late. I love Lucy and I trust her. Our marriage is solid." Kevin chomps
on his apple signifying an end to the conversation.

Scott is quiet for a moment before looking Kevin straight in the eye.
"You're right."

Kevin's mouth opens in surprise. "What did you just say? I think the sun
is affecting my hearing."

"I said you are right, what I did was unforgivable. You're wrong that
I'm after Lucy though. I love Gina, and Lucy loves you. Why do you think
I left the way I did? It became painfully obvious that even divorced,
she was in love with you. I knew she'd never love me the way I longed
for her too. So, I hurt her the easiest way I knew. When the threat on
Serena came, I had an excuse to disappear again. I've changed, Kevin. I
don't expect you to believe it, but it's true." Scott watches as Kevin
ponders his statements.

"Does Lucy know that you intentionally hurt her by taking Serena?" He
inquires softly.

"Yes, and I've apologized for it. I gave her my word that Serena would
never be a pawn to use for her affections. I love my daughters, Kevin,
and back then I didn't think that using Lucy's love for Serena was that
big of a deal if in the end Serena had Lucy for a mother." He takes a
deep breath and then continues. "Truth is, she always had Lucy for a
mother, and I never had the right to fool with that bond. Lucy will
always have access to our daughter and believe it or not, I'm happy that
Serena will have your influence on her as well."

"Really? You don't mind my bonding with Serena?"

"I used to, but I'm her father and no one will ever take that from me.
You offer her something that I can't, a different outlook on life's
curve balls so to speak. I'm the type of guy who hits first and asks
questions later; you aren't like that. Serena benefits from everyone who
loves her. I really am trying to make up for the hell I caused before. I
do care about Lucy, and those babies. They'll be Serena's brothers or
sisters, and whether I like it or not, you come with the package. So, I
guess what I'm saying is-- we're stuck with each other."

Kevin chuckles softly. "I can't forget what you did before, Scott, but I
know what it means to want and to need a second chance. I'm willing to
give one. One rule, you aren't moving in with us. Serena can spend the
night; you can't." He extends his hand. "Stuck together, someone
upstairs is laughing about this."

Scott shakes his hand firmly. "Probably Spencer but thanks, man." They
hear the rescue boat arrive and breath a sigh of relief. "Let's get back
to Port Charles."

"Lucy, you sure you don't want me to stay? I can tell Alex that I'm
busy." Mac says as he holds his cell phone in his hand.

"Oh pooh, go! Alex needs your help, and he's gone out of his way to
assist me in my bout with the stalker. Cassidy is in her room and I'm
going to take a long hot shower and think warm, fuzzy thoughts so that
my Doc will get home quickly and make me feel all nice and safe again.
Scotty called from the rescue boat and said they'll be here in just a
few hours, so unless you want to sit and talk to Siggy, you should just
toddle along and put that brilliant criminal mind to work and help Alex,
so he has more time to help us with the stalker people." She smiles at
him sweetly as he shakes his head, trying to sort through her
statements.

"OK, take your bath, use lots of bubbles, relax, and I am only a phone
call away." He kisses her on the cheek before exiting the home.

Lucy knocks on Cassidy's door lightly and opens it when she calls to
her. "Hey, You should try and get some sleep. Scott said they'll be back
in a couple hours, and there's no way you'll be able to nap with all the
commotion that will be going on."

Cassidy wipes her blood shot eyes and grins. "That's your way of telling
me I look like hell and Lucky will be home soon right?"

"You never look like hell! But, well okay, Lucky will be home soon and
I'm sure he will be wired and want to help you do that computer mumbo
jumbo." Lucy glances at the screen. "Have you found anything yet?"

"Nope, but I am going to take you advice. You should do the same." She
cautions as she makes way to her bed.

"I'm going to take a nice long bath and relax my muscles. I'll yell for
you if I get stuck in the tub." She jokes.

Thirty minutes later, two hooded men in black set fire to a pentagram on
the front lawn of the lighthouse.

Lucy stiffens in the tub of soapy water, a cold chill runs down her
spine, despite the hot temperature of the water. Her fears are confirmed
by Cassidy screaming.

"Serena, stay in your room; Lucy, the lawn is on fire!" Cassidy yells
into her cellular phone. "Get over here now! Someone just set a
pentagram on fire in our lawn."

Lucy emerges from the water and throws clothes over her still soapy body
as she waddles as quickly as she can into the livingroom. A banging on
her window alarms her as the glass shatters and a figure tries to come
into the house. Picking up a nearby shoe, she flings it to the window
and screams loudly. "GET OUT DAMN YOU!" Searching for something to
defend herself with, the closest thing she can find is a wooden plaque
Serena designed for her and Kevin with their second wedding date
engraved on it. Rushing to the window, she smashes it over the man's
head as he is halfway through. He let's out a groan as he reaches to her,
chanting. "The Baby is ours, the baby is ours."

Her hands cover her stomach protectively. "The baby is mine, you,
you... psycho!"

Cassidy rushes into the room, a fire poker in her hand. "Lucy, Get out
of here." Lucy backs away quickly as Cassidy holds the poker firmly in
her hand, growling at the half-dazed individual. "Give me a reason to
skewer you, Bastard."

Mac pulls the man from the window and wrestles him to the ground. The
man continues his chant. "The Baby is ours, the baby is ours.." Mac
slams his head into the ground roughly.

"You have the right to remain silent; use it."

Scotty and Kevin pull up to the driveway and jump out of the car. They
run to the police officers. Police cars are scattered around the home as
three Men are cuffed and put into a squad car.

"Lucy??" Kevin asks Garcia with anxiety in his voice.

"She's inside with Cassidy. We were at Scott's house when they pulled
the burning pentagram stunt. Seems they're fans of your work." Garcia
mutters with disgust.

Kevin runs into the lighthouse as Scott looks at the three hooded
individuals with disgust. "I can't wait for them to throw the book at
you."

One of the men smiles. "She carries the blessed child. The child will be
ours; Its sacrifice will bring power to our group. You're a lawyer, they
can't stop our religious practices in jail, correct?"

Scott lunges for him. "I'll stop your.." He grumbles as an officer pulls
him back.

Kevin runs into his home. "LUCY??" She walks out looking tired but
happy. Rushing to her, he holds her tenderly in his arms. "Honey, are
you okay?"

"I'm fine. A little shaky, but Garcia and his men were right on top of
them. No more PCPD jokes for them. It's over, Doc; it's finally over and
you're home. I couldn't be happier." She whispers as she holds him
tightly. "Get used to this, cause I'm not ever letting you go again."

"As much as that appeals to me, It will be a little hard to give birth
this way." He teases lightly as he lowers his lips to hers. "I love you,
Mrs. Collins."
