GH 2005 CHAPTER 8 NEW ARRIVALS

Jason Morgan and Robin Scorpio rush into the Bensonhurst hospital. They
follow the familiar route, heck they've been to three of these events
already. Once they reach the OB waiting room they are greeted by Gloria and
Carmine Cerullo.
Gloria hugs Robin then Jason."Glad you two could make it. You made record
time."
Jason shakes Carmine's hands and smiles at Gloria."Well, I have the route
memorized now. How's she doing?"
Carmine laughs."Lois? Probably better than Ned. Actually, last I heard they
were counseling a first time couple. I think by now they can pretty much
deliver their children solo."
They all laugh. Robin speaks up."Think it's going to be another girl?"
Gloria nods her head."I'm willing to bet on it. Poor Ned, I know he wanted
a son, but Lois is ready to snip him herself you know. Besides, he is
basically raising Dylan. What a gem that boy is. He has the whole house
taken care of. He and Mrs. Rosario have everything under control."
Jason nods."That's good. Man, you'd think I'd be used to the waiting by
now. Robin, did you call Brenda?"
Robin nods."Yes, she sends her love, but can't make it down. She is really
enjoying Alaska. Said she will be here by the christening though."
Gloria laughs"She hasn't missed a christening yet. I am glad she is still
happy. I figured that the breakup with Jax would have tore her up. I guess
the Malibu and Alaskan homes along with the settlement allowed her to jump
back on her feet."
Jason stiffens at the mention of Jax and absently Robin grips his hand.
She smiles at Gloria. "Yeah, Bren did come out alright. I'm glad she and
Sonia are doing okay."
Jason begins to laugh."Sonia. Did Jax ever figure out she was named after
Sonny?"
Robin smiles."You know Jax; he allowed her to name the baby anything she
wanted and never said a word. Of course, I'm sure he wasn't pleased that she
calls Sonia-- Sonni. Oh well, I'm glad his name was passed on to her."

In the Delivery Room
Lois is squeezing Ned's hand and he is singing to her softly. After the
sixth or seventh rendition of having my baby has been sung, Lois hushes him.
Lois"Ned, honey, I love that song as much as you do, but you're killing me
as well as the doctor. Hey Doc, how are we doing? I'm guessing five
centimeters right?"
The doctor smiles at her."Amazing. Five and 1/2 Mrs. Ashton. You're doing
great."
Lois smiles."No problem doc, we're old pros. This is our fifth one, you know."
The doctor looks from Ned to Lois in amazement."How do you do it?"
Ned grins."Easy, I adore her. Plus long winter's in New York."
Lois slaps him playfully."Silly, he means how do we handle them all. Easy
Doc, with lots of love and endless patience. We have my parents helping us,
god bless them." Lois starts to moan and the Doctor goes back to the job at
hand. Time passes and finally Lois is pushing. "Ohhhh Neddddd, you owe me
Coney Island again you know."
Ned wipes her forehead and kisses her hand."Coney Island baby. I promise.
We're almost there. Push honey."
Lois pushes and the doctor announces the baby has arrived. Ned leans over
and kisses Lois as they wait for the Doctor to announce the sex.
Doctor "Congratulations you have a daughter. Would you like to cut the cord?"
Ned smiles and nods: "Absolutely."

The Outback

Mac is tending bar when the young stranger from the airport walks in. He
stands near the back and watches Mac talk to a customer for a little while
then taking a breath he heads toward the bar.
Mac looks up at him and smiles "Soda, coffee, tea? What can I do you for?"
The boy shakes his head."Um none of those, sir."
Mac laughs."Well, son I'll need ID for anything else."
The boy shakes his head again."No sir, I'm not here for a drink. Are you
Mac Scorpio?"
Mac nods."Yes, I'm Mac. Do I know you?"
The boy shakes his head again."No sir. I'm Evan. Evan Scorpio, your son."
Mac looks at the boy in a shocked silence. He studies the features of the
young man in front of him. He had to admit it was striking. Same curly brown
hair, same smile and build, but his eyes. "Excuse me? You want to run that
by me again. This time a little slower."
Evan nods."I'm sorry, I know this is a shock. I didn't know any other way
to tell you though. Can we go somewhere and talk?"
Mac signals for his employee to take over then leads Evan into the back
office. Once there he offers him a seat and then sits at his desk. "Evan,
who told you that you were my son?"
Evan smiles."My mother Sir. Amanda Burnett is my mother."
Mac feels the air leave his lungs. That's where he got the eyes. Amanda,
she was fiery and sweet and the love of his life many years ago. That time
seemed like another lifetime to him. He was young and a mercenary for hire.
Amanda's brother had hired him to eliminate a competitor rancher. He had met
Amanda and was immediately drawn to her. She was the classic mix of woman
and child. She had the most beautiful brown eyes he had ever seen and they
fell in love as quickly as they met. He had even considered taking the job
she offered him on the ranch when another job had come along. The adventurer
in him took over and he tried to convince her to come along. He could still
see her tear filled eyes telling him it was over. Never giving him a reason,
just ending it. He had lost touch with her. His letters came back unopened
and finally he just stopped sending them to her. He's brought back to the
present as he sees Evan patiently waiting for his attention. "How is Amanda?"
Evan smiles politely."She's fine. She and my stepfather reside in Florida
now. She told me to give you her regards. Sounds a little silly I guess. I
come here to tell you I'm your son and then give you my mother's regards."
Mac nods."This is interesting, but not silly. Mandy knew you were my son.
Why didn't she tell me?"
Evan sighs."I didn't find out who you were until I reached my 18th
birthday. She just wouldn't talk about it. Finally my persistence got to her
and she fessed up. Seems you were involved on my Grandfather's ranch. She
found out she was pregnant, but according to her you were wild and reckless
and in no way ready to be a father. She wanted to give it a try though so
she offered you a job on the ranch, but never told you about the pregnancy.
Anyway, you took another job. A dangerous job, and she decided that she
wouldn't hold you back from your passion for adventure. She doesn't feel she
did anything wrong. She denied me a father, but looks at it like no big
deal. That's mom. I love her more than anything else in the world, but she
drives me insane you know. Her decision affected other people than just
herself, but she sees nothing wrong in being selfish. In fact she says she
was selfless."
Mac sighs."Amanda, in her own way, was selfless. I've never met anyone like
her before or since. She was one of a kind. No one had a bigger heart than
her though. I can't say I'm not angry as hell though. Damn it, I have a son.
I missed watching you grow. I wasn't able to be a part of your life. All
because I took a job."
Evan smiles."Don't try to make since of it, it will make you dizzy. I do
want to know you though. Mom always said we were a lot like, even though I
never knew with whom I was being compared. I don't want anything from you,
Mr. Scorpio. I just want to know you. That is-- if you want to know me."
Mac smiles."First of all, call me Mac. Your Uncle must have taught you
those manners. He was always a polite one."
Evan nods."Uncle Billy was kinda a substitute pop you know."
Mac smiles."How is Billy?"
Evan looks to the ground."He passed on a couple years back. A drunk driver
ran him off the road. Anyway, does this mean you want to get to know me as
well? I'll take a blood test if you'd like. I mean not that I don't believe
my mom or anything, it's just I'm barging in on your life and telling you
I'm you kid."
Mac smiles at him."I can look at you and see the resemblance, but it's
probably a good idea. Where are you staying? I can have your room made up in
a few hours. I'll need to call Felicia and fill her in on all this. She's my
wife."
Evan shakes his head."I'm enrolled at PCU, sir. I'll be staying on campus.
I got my classes transferred a few hours ago and they had room in the dorms."
Mac looks at him curiously."Are you sure? You are more than welcome to stay
with me and Felicia."
Evan nods."I'm positive. I mean this is going to be awkward enough. I think
some space would be a good thing. You have a wife and another family. They
shouldn't be sideswiped by me. Anyway, I like dorm life."
Mac laughs."Well, PCU is a coed dorm so I'm sure you do. You have two
stepsisters and a cousin. I'll tell you more about them, but how about you
and I take a ride over to the house. I want you to meet Felicia and maybe
with both of us explaining this she will understand, or better yet maybe she
can explain this to us."
Evan laughs and rises."Sounds great. I think I'm going to like Port-Charles."

Bensonhurst OB room.

Lois is holding the baby and Ned is next to her beaming. Robin, Jason,
carmine and Gloria are gathered around.
Robin:"So, what did you name her? You're running out of 'B' names!"
Lois laughs."Hush, we named her Brenda Marie. Robin, Ned and I want you and
Jason to be the god parents. "
Jason looks at Ned who nods."Are you sure?"
Ned smiles."I think you're both perfect. Wanna hold your god daughter?"
Jason nods and takes the baby. He and Robin smile at the tiny little girl.
Robin feels a twinge of envy as she smiles at Jason."She's perfect."
Jason nods and then passes the baby to Carmine. He turns to Lois:"You came
out like a champ as always. Lois, Ned, I think I can speak for Robin when I
say we'd love to be her god parents. She is an angel."
Carmine and Gloria are cooing at the baby and Lois squeezes Ned's
hand."We're lucky you and I. She's healthy and so loved. I know her sister's
are going to adore her. But honey, she has to be the last one. I just can't
do this anymore."
Ned kisses her cheek."I know baby, we've done good. You can make the
appointment. I know Brenda is our last perfect angel. I couldn't be happier.
You, Dylan and my girls are my life, baby. I wouldn't trade any of this."
Lois laughs."You better not buster. Five kids and one surrogate, you're in
this for the long haul."
Ned grins"You and me, baby."
