GH2005. 14-- The Messenger.
Scott Baldwin answers his telephone and listens to the other person on the
line. He hangs up the phone and begins to shake as tears slide down his
cheeks. "No, God No. Dad, Gail, Oh God No!"
Serena hears her father and enters the room. She runs to her father and
throws her arms around him. "Daddy? Daddy, what's wrong?" Scott looks down
at his daughter and pulls her to him. Holding her tightly he cries as he
rocks with her."Daddy? You're scaring me."
Scott tries to regain control but is unsuccessful. Finally he gathers
himself together and looks at his daughter."Grandma and Grandpa are with
your mom now, honey."
Serena tries to understand finally it hits her and she begins to cry."Why
Daddy? What happened? I didn't get to know them. Why Daddy?"
Scott holds her as he continues to cry."I don't know, baby. I don't know."

At the light house Kevin puts down the phone wiping the tears from his
cheeks as he looks at Lucy who is waiting impatiently."What is it, Doc?"
Kevin's voice cracks."Gail and Lee Baldwin were murdered tonight in the
midst of a home invasion."
Lucy gasps and begins to sob."No, no, no, no. Why? Who? Oh no."
Kevin holds Lucy tightly and she cries into his chest as he fights back his
own tears."I don't know, Luce. "
Lucy pulls away. "Scotty and Serena will be devastated. Doc, we have to go
to them."
Kevin nods."Let's go."

Tom Hardy, Alex Garcia and Det. Taggert walk through the house as the
ambulance leaves with the Baldwins.
Tom:"Why would someone kill them? They were good people."
Alex:"Why does anyone kill anybody?"
Tom:"I could give you a hundred reasons but are any of them worth anything?"
Taggert:"Look like they surprised a burglar. He got scared and shot them."
Tom: " Maybe, but why not just run?"
Alex:"We've had a string of home invasions lately. We busted Matt Clark for
a few of them, but had to let him go due to missing evidence. I don't think
he'd kill though."
Taggert:"Why wouldn't he? He's a drug pusher, a burglar; murder is just the
next step on the thrill meter for him."
Alex:"I don't know. I feel like we're missing something. (He calls to his
people) Fine tooth comb this place and canvas the neighbors. I want answers."

On the Cassadine Plane Robin is explaining to Lucky.
Robin:"So, I got the call that everyone had come out with positive results
from the cure. I flew down here two years ago; I was in the third bunch of
people who tried it. It's my turn to be tested."
Lucky grins."You're going to be okay, Robin. You've never looked healthier
and if everyone else has had positive results then you'll be fine. Why not
tell Jason?"
Robin sighs."I didn't want to build his hopes. Nikolas found out about the
cure, and told me about the program. He's funded everything. He'll bring it
to General Hospital as soon as the FDA will okay it. Of course that may not
be for years. He wanted me to have first crack at it, you know."
Lucky nods."He's a pain in the ass; but when it comes to stuff like this,
he's got a heart as big as an ocean. I'm glad Robin. I'll go with you if you
want."
Robin smiles gratefully. "I do. Lucky, I didn't want Jason hopes up but I
need someone with me when I get the answer. You're a dear friend."
Lucky smiles."Anything for you, darlin'. I'll have to leave you at the Hotel
afterwards though. I have some business to take care of, but I'll see to it
you get back to Port Chuckles, ASAP."
Robin smiles."Thanks Lucky. I'm glad Nikolas suggested you come along."
Lucky grins."I'm sure he's happy I'm gone as well."

The Next Day..
Nikolas waits in a doctor's office; Katherine asked him to meet her. He
flips through an outdated magazine and wonders why she had him meet her
here. Finally she comes out and talks with the doctor for a moment more
before approaching Nikolas with a look of fear, joy and shock."We have to
talk." Nikolas leads her out of the office to the limo. Once inside she
begins to cry a little and looks at him helplessly.
Nikolas:"Katherine? What's the matter?" He takes her into his arms, trying
to calm her.
Katherine finally speaks."I don't know how it happened. I thought I was too
old."
Nikolas looks at her."Too old?"
She sighs."I'm pregnant, Nikolas."
Nikolas feels the air leave his lungs as he looks at her in shock."Pregnant?
Is it mine?"
She begins to cry again."Of course it's yours. Nikolas, please don't be
angry, I don't know how it happened."
He holds her as thoughts jumble in his head."I'm not mad. We're going to
have a baby. That's not a bad thing. I'm just a little taken back."
She smiles at him."This could be a good thing. I mean at my age, and to
finally be having a child. Your child, Nikolas. I feel so blessed. This is
truly a miracle."
Nikolas smiles."That's one way to put it. Okay, how did you know to go to
the doctor? We haven't been together very long."
Katherine sighs."Routine checkup. I had no idea I was going to find not only
am I fit as a fiddle, I'm having a baby as well. I'm only a couple of weeks
along. It's amazing how much they can tell these days."
Nikolas nods."Amazing. That would be around the first time we had sex."
Katherine kisses him."I guess you were even more amazing than I thought.
Impossible though, because You're truly amazing. Oh Nikolas, a baby."
Nikolas sighs as he holds her."A baby."

Lucy walks out of Serena's room quietly. Serena had finally dosed off.
Kevin is on the phone making the necessary calls, and Scott still holds a
picture of his father and Gail. He still has the far away distraught look
that he had when they arrived the night before. Lucy's eyes begin to well up
with tears as she remembers the grief stricken Scotty who answered the door
and seeing Serena on the couch sobbing. They both had been near
inconsolable. She looks over at Kevin and smiles. He worked miracles with
Serena. Got her to calm down and even drink some cocoa. He kept Serena
occupied as she tried to calm Scotty. She moves to the couch beside Scott
and places her hand on his shoulder."Scotty, you should eat something."
He continues to look at the picture, lost in his own thoughts. He answers
though."Serena?"
Lucy:"Sleeping. You need to sleep as well. Kevin has made the necessary
calls, but you will have a lot of things to deal with later. Food and sleep,
Pal."
Scotty shakes his head and begins to cry again."I wasn't around, Luce. Did
he know? We weren't always in the best of terms. Did he know how much I
loved him? How much I loved them both? They didn't know Serena. Time was
something I thought I had."
Lucy holds him tightly."Oh Scotty, he knew. They knew. They loved you both
so much. Of course they knew. It's going to be okay. Why do we say that?
It's going to be okay. How the heck do I know if it's going to be okay or
not? You're going through horrible grief and I'm telling you it's going to
be okay. Oh Scotty, you're home now. You have friends. We'll be here for you
and Serena. I can't promise anything but that."
Scotty nods and Kevin hands him a cup of tea."Coffee would make you even
more wired. "
Scotty:"Thank you, Kevin. You've held it together and done everything I
should have."
Kevin holds up his hand."No, I was just trying to help. I cared about them
both, She saved my life you know. They were remarkable people. I know they'd
want you to get some sleep and food into you. (Kevin rises.) Omelets will be
ready shortly."
Scott doesn't argue and sips his tea. He turns to Lucy."You've been the
best, again."
Lucy smiles."Don't ever forget it, Pal. I love you, I will help you though
this."
Scott smiles weakly."I know, Luce. I love you too."
