Chapter 56 Date: 25 Apr 1997 9:38:06 PDT

Lucy, Kevin, and the boys depart the plane and walk into theterminal to be greeted by a circus, of reporters, police, and generalgawkers.

''Ms. Coe! Over here!'' One reporter shouts. ''How do you feelabout catching one of your oldest rivals in the middle of a drugscheme?''

''Mr. Cassadine. How involved were you with your mother'splans? Did you know your wife was smuggling drugs?''

''Damn it, Doc.'' Lucy whispers. ''We're trapped.''

''Lucy! Stefan! Over here!'' Comes Mac's voice from the middleof the mess. He guides them through the crowd to a waitinglimousine.

After settling the boys into their car seats, Lucy turns toMac. ''What the heck is going on?''

''Remember everyone saying this would be handled quietly?''Mac asks. ''Well it wasn't. The press got a hold of the story abouttwenty four hours ago and no one has had any peace since.'''

''We were hoping it would be over by now.''

''Stefan, there is some question as to how much you knew aboutthis.'' Mac says.

Kevin sighs, seeing the suspicion in his old friend's eyes.''I knew nothing. Which is pretty well evidenced in the fact theytried to kill me.''

''That's right, and what I overheard in the warehouse was thatStefan knew nothing about their plans.''

''Katherine is out on bail.'' Mac reports.

''WHAT? You've got to be kidding me!'' Lucy exclaims. ''She'severy bit as dangerous as Helena!''

''Lucy, she's under twenty four hour surveillance.'' Macpauses.

''And now that's you're back, you will be too.''

''OH great! Katherine gets caught and we getimprisoned!''

At Luke's

Luke, Mike, Sonny and Jason are watching the news.

''Did I just see what I think I saw?'' Sonny asks rubbing hiseyes. ''Did Lucy just get off that plane with StefanCassadine?''

''Has she lost her mind?'' Luke shouts racing for thedoor.

''Oh, this'll go smoothly.'' Stefan laughs. ''Let's see, Lucyand Kevin (Who is inhabiting my body.) confronted by a displacedthoroughly ticked off Luke Spencer.''

''Maybe, it won't be so bad.'' Stone offers. When they alljust look at him, he relents. ''Ok, it'll be a blood bath.''

''Luke's got an awfully mean left hook.'' Robert saysthoughtfully.

''Yes, but Kevin has my Tai Chi training.'' Stefan repliesimmodestly.

''I don't know how much good that'll do against an old streetfighter like Luke though.'' Robert answers.

''A great deal of good, I'll wager.'' Anna interrupts. A fiftydollar bill appears in her hand. ''Any one taking odds?''

At the lighthouse, Lucy has just put down the boys for a napand Kevin has gone out to run the last of the reporters off theproperty, when the doorbell rings.

''Who is it?''

''It's me Luke! Open up!''

Lucy opens the door to find Luke standing on her doorsteplooking furious.

''Are you out of your mind? Where did you go with StefanCassadine?''

''That's really none of your business.'' Lucy answerscoolly.

''Listen to me Lucy . . . '' Luke yells taking herarm.

Kevin walks in. ''Take your hands off of her, Spencer.'' Hewarn quietly.

Luke glances over his shoulder. ''Go take a flying .'' Hesnarls rudely. ''I am in the middle of telling Lucy what an ass youare.''

''Feel free to try and convince her, but do it withouttouching her.'' Kevin responds slowly moving towards Luke.

''Both of you feel free to stop talking as if I weren't in theroom.'' Lucy informs them, sensing oncoming disaster. ''In fact, bothof you can feel free to get the heck out of my house.''

At the words 'my house' Kevin raises and amused eyebrow.''Very well. Spencer, after you.'' He holds open the door.

''Oh, no, after you I insist.'' Luke waits for Kevin to gothrough first.

''BOTH OF YOU OUT NOW!'' Lucy yells in frustration pushingthem through the doorway at the same time. ''Men.'' Shehuffs.

''What now Luke?'' Kevin asks reasonably. ''Do we stand outhere on Lucy's lawn and fight like stag?''

Luke chuckles at the image. He lights a cigar. ''Maybe, don'tknow that I want to pass up the chance to hit you.''

''Me neither. How about if we go somewhere, have a few drinksand discuss it?'' Kevin suggests. ''How about the back room at theclub?''

''Hmmm . . . we can drink and if I want to hit you laternothing too valuable will get broken. Let's go.''

''Come on Kevin hit him already.'' Stefan calls inimpatience.

''Don't worry, Stefan.'' Robert reassures him. ''If I knowLuke, he'll last a half hour tops before the first punch isthrown.''

''Yeah, I also think Kevin's running a little hot tonight too…'' Dominique offers. ''Don't count on him to keep hiscool.''

''Well then.'' Anna interjects. ''I'll make thepopcorn.

Chapter 57 (26 Apr 1997)

The doorbell rings at the lighthouse. Lucy opens it to findMac and Alexis standing on the doorstep. ''Alexis!'' Lucy wraps herarms around her friend. ''Come on in.'' She opens the doorwider.

''Is Stefan here?'' Alexis asks sitting on the couch.

''No. The last time I saw him, he and Luke were getting intoLuke's car.'' Mac does a double take. ''Luke SPENCER? And STEFANCASSADINE? Together?''

''I told them to get out,'' Lucy explains. ''Is somethingwrong?''

''Lucy, I'll just come right to the point,'' Alexis saysbluntly. ''I want to know what you're doing with mycousin.''

Lucy looks shocks for a minute, and then she fights a smile. Asmall giggle breaks free, then she lets loose a gale of laughter.''Alexis Davis! Are you asking me what my intentions are?'' She canbarely speak through the tears.

Mac and Alexis wait patiently for the laughter to subside.''Are you through yet?'' Alexis asks patiently.

''Maybe.'' Lucy wipes hers eyes with a final chuckle. ''Nowreally, Alexis what are you worried about? Your cousin is a grownman. I doubt he needs chaperone.''

''Lucy, I know that you started to get close to Stefan in aneffort to find out who killed Kevin. What I'm asking is, do you havefeelings for him? Genuine feelings?''

Lucy sighs, sensing her friend's worry. ''Alexis, I canhonestly tell you that I love Stefan. He's asked me to marry him andI've said yes. It has nothing to do with Kevin's death. Stefan and Ihave a very real relationship.''

Alexis nods in satisfaction. ''Well then, congratulations arein order.'' She crosses the living room and gives Lucy a hug. ''Ithink you'll be good for Stefan. He tends to brood, andsnarl.''

Mac smiles. ''Lucy's used to that.'' He kisses her cheeklightly. ''As long as you and the boys are happy, I'm thrilled foryou.''

''Thank you so much. Alexis, I hope that you can be persuadedto stand up with me?''

''Try and stop me.''

''You might want to hold off on the wedding plans till we findout if Luke and Stefan have killed each other yet,'' Mac observeswryly.

In the back room at Luke's

A chair goes flying across the room and seconds later Lukefollows.

''Who do you think you are?''

Luke crashes into a wall and scrambles to his feet wiping asplit lip. ''The man who's gonna kick your Cassadine ass into nextweek,'' Luke growls throwing a left hook that connects with Kevin'sjaw with enough force to send him reeling. Luke lowers his head andtackles Kevin around the middle.

''Think we should stop them?'' Mike asks Sonny, intentlywatching the brawl.

''You wanna get in the middle of that?'' Sonny gesturestowards the men.

''Naww, on second thought, want a beer?'' Mike reaches intothe bar fridge and pulls out two cold beers. He tosses one to hisson.

''I think Cassadine is winning.''

''Luke will kill him,'' Mike replies loyally.

''What ya got on it?'' Sonny asks slyly.

''Nice toss!'' Stefan cries, taking a handful ofpopcorn.

''Oouch! That looked like it hurt,'' Anna observes.

''Luke had better remember to duck,'' Ryan observes. ''He'smoving slow now.''

''I bet those ribs hurt,'' Dom says popping a kernel into hermouth.

''Shh! I can't hear their wonderful dialogue!'' Robertsays.

Chapter 58 (29 Apr 1997)

Six months into the future

Luke and Lucy have mended their friendship. Kevin and Lukehave mended a couple of broken bones, and though they are not close,they aren't bitter enemies. Katherine had an unexplained "accident"in prison. Some people whisper that Lucy seemed less than surprised.Others think Katherine knew too much to suit Helena.

Anyway, life has moved on. It is spring in the park again. Twolittle boys come racing out of nowhere. "Catch us, Momma!"

**"Yeah Momma! Catch us!" The twins run giggling through thepark until they run smack into Kevin.**

"Don't go wearing out your mother!" He warns gently. He picksup a child under each arm and carries them back to the blankets,where Lucy, Alexis, Mac, Holly, Luke, Nikolas, Lucky and Ravensit.

"Sorry, Stefan." Lucy smiles. "They're moving too fast for methese days." She looks at her stomach. "In fact, everything's movingtoo fast for me. Only five months and I feel like a whale!"

"Maybe it's another set of twins," Mac suggests.

Lucy shoots Kevin a look that says, 'It darn well better notbe, Mister!!'

Holly laughs and leans back against Luke. He wraps an armaround her waist and pulls her close. "How do you feel about twins?"he asks.

Lucky and Raven's heads whip around. "WHAT!!??!?!?!?" Theychorus.

Holly smiles. "I hope you guys don't mindbabysitting."

"WOW! That is so great Mom!" Raven hugs her mother. Luke andHolly accept all the congratulations offered.

"Gee, fertile little bunch aren't we?" Alexis asks.

"Is that an invitation Mrs. Scorpio?" Mac askslightly.

"OH-NO you don't, buddy!" Alexis protests. "I just got to bedistrict attorney."

"Oh well, we'll just have to keep practicing."

They all laugh. The day lazily stretches into night. Asdarkness settles, fireflies come out and so does Eddie Maine. Lois,Ned, Brooke, and Lila

Grace now divide their time between Port Charles and IslaPatito. Eddie takes the makeshift stage and begins to sing.

Kevin takes Lucy into his arms and they sway to the music,remembering their small wedding ceremony. "Doc, I love you," Lucywhispers.

"I love you too Lucy, with everything I am and all that weare." He places a kiss behind her ear. "Let's go home."

"Yes."

Luke smiles as he sees Stefan and Lucy scoop up the sleepingtwins and bid everyone a goodnight. "I hate to admit it, but Batmanhas the right idea. Let's go home, Darlene'." Luke wraps a hand inHolly's hair and luxuriates in the silky feel of it.

"Home." Holly sighs contentedly. "I love that word." Shekisses him. "And I love you."

"Lucky, we're gonna go. Holly's tired. Can you and Raven getthe picnic stuff for us?"

"Sure thing, Dad. Nik, Raven and I are gonna stayawhile."

Ned finishes his set and kneels on the ground next to the mostmiraculous women alive. His wife and his daughters. He looks at hisoldest and youngest sleeping peacefully. "Ready to go darling?" Heasks a tired Lois.

"Yup. But Nedly? Can we go back to the island? I missit."

"Me too gorgeous." Ned smiles. "I don't know about tonightthough. How about first thing in the morning? I liked to have theplane checked out first." He says with a smile. "Not that you don'tlook superb in a parachute, honey." He wiggles his eyebrows.

Above the park the spirits watch carefully over their friends,knowing what lay behind them, and what was in store for the future.But content in the present happiness, and joy of the ones they love.That happiness broken by a new arrival.

"STEFAWN!! Oh My DARLING!!"

All heads whirl at the sound of familiar shrillvoice.

"Oh NO!!!!" Seeing a blonde head moving swiftly towards him,Stefan immediately vanishes.

The other spirits roll with laughter. "He can't avoid her foreternity." Dominique chokes out between chuckles.

"I think he'll try,' Robert guffaws.

"I bet he can," Stone says. All the angels quit laughing andstare at him for a moment, then all HELL (I mean HECK) breaksloose.
