Amy and Jake are sitting in the hospital commissary duringtheir break.
Amy- Can you believe it? She didn't even take the time to letme know she
was in town! She knows how much I care about Lesley. I'm sosick of her better
than me attitude.
Jake- You're right, she doesn't show you the respect youdeserve. I don't
see why people fall all over themselves for her.
Amy- It's always been that way. People love Laura, she can dono wrong.
Most people are even forgiving her for faking herdeath.
Jake- That was a particularly cruel prank to play on the peoplewho love
her. I'm so sorry she hurt you that way.
Amy- You're sweet. Thanks. But Nikolas is the one who was hurtthe most.
When I think of how my sister has treated her own son, it makesme so mad.
Jake- As far as I am concerned, she defiantly isn't mother ofthe year material.
Amy- You can say that again!
Jake- How is Nikolas any way? I know his chest x-rays lookedbetter this
morning, he must be improving.
Amy- Yes, he is improving, physically at least. He had a feverfor a while
but we are giving him a strong antibiotic to kill theinfection. The fever's gone
but we are going to watch closely for any further signs ofinfection. The last
thing we need is a relapse.
Jake- That's true.
Amy- They are moving him tomorrow, so he will be up andaround
soon. It will be good for him to move around more, it will keephis
lungs clear. The longer he lays in bed the greater the chancesof pneumonia setting in.
Jake- How is he going to get exercise with all the securityaround him? I
would think the last thing they would do is allow him to walkthe halls.
Amy- I'm not sure how they will do it. I don't think they willhave much
choice. Besides, they haven't exactly been doing such a greatjob guarding him.
Dara and Taggert come out of Carly's room and walk towards thenurses station.
Taggert- What do you think?
Dara- I think she was telling the truth.
Taggert- So do I.
They are almost at the nurses station when they are interruptedby Mac Scorpio.
Dara uses the phone while Mac and Taggert talk.
Taggert- Commissioner, is there a problem?
The elevator doors open and Dr. Dorman steps out.
Mac- Yes, there was another incident with the Cassadine kid.Where were you?
Taggert- I was interviewing Miss Roberts. Whathappened?
Mac- Stefan called and said they found another note fromHelena.
Dr. Dorman steps closer to the nurses station and pretends tostudy a
patient chart.
Mac- I just got here, so I haven't seen it yet. But accordingto Stefan, it said
the last man would die soon.
Dr. Dorman drops the chart he is reading. Everyone turns andlooks at him.
Dr. Dorman- Excuse me.
He picks up the chart and walks off.
Taggert- I'll go look into it right away.
Mac- No, I'll handle it. You continue with what you were doing.When
you're finished then come help me.
Taggert nods and goes to talk to Dara.
Mac leaves and goes to Nikolas' room. When he gets thereMiranda is
watching Nikolas through the observation window. She seems lostin thought.
Mac- Want to tell me about it?
Miranda jumps at the sound of his voice.
Miranda- Mac, you scared me.
Mac- Sorry, What were you thinking about?
Miranda- Fate.
Mac- Care to explain that?
Miranda- Maybe, but not now. I found another note from Helena,it was in
Nikolas' hand.
Mac- I heard he was drugged.
Miranda- He was. Alan said he should be waking up soon.
Mac looks through the window, Stefan and Bobbie are standingnext to him.
Stefan looks up and they both come out to talk to Mac.
Mac- How is he?
Stefan- He's still sleeping. Alan thinks it would be better ifwe discuss
this out in the hall to be sure he cannot hear us.
Stefan hands the note over to Mac as the group walks out intothe hall.
They stand in front of the door so that no one can enterNikolas' room without
them knowing it.
Stefan- Isabella found this in his hand. We obviously need todiscuss
better security.
Mac- We will do everything we can to protect him.
Laura- And what would that be?
They all turned as Laura walks up to them.
Laura- And don't bother telling me that I have no right to behere. I'm
his mother.
Bobbie-Right! Until you decide to leave him again.
Mac- Laura, we are doing everything we can to protecthim.
Laura- But it's not enough is it?
Mac- I assure you....
They are interrupted by the commotion coming from Nikolas'room. He is
violently struggling against his restraints. Stefan is thefirst through the door,
he quickly walks through the small observation room and intoNikolas' room. The
other's are close behind him. Laura starts to go in with them,but Miranda stops
her.
Miranda- He's usually pretty upset when he wakes up like this.He doesn't
need for you to upset him more.
Laura pushes past her, but stays in the back.
Nikolas- Get them off of me!
Stefan- Nikolas, it's alright.
Nikolas is furious- Get them off me this minute.
Stefan- I don't understand, get what off you?
Nikolas- The restraints! Untie me NOW.
Nikolas doubles his efforts to get loose.
Stefan- Nikolas calm down. There is no need to getupset.
Stefan unfastens Nikolas' restraints. Nikolas lets out a sighof relief.
Nikolas- Your not putting them back on me. I won't behelplessly tied to
this bed again. Not ever!
Stefan- What do you remember?
Nikolas- She was here. I saw her, she talked to me.
Mac- What did she say?
Nikolas- She wants me, but after she gets her revenge.
Laura- Oh God!
Nikolas looks up and sees Laura.
Nikolas- You have to take my sister and grandmother somewheresafe! You
have to protect your family.
Laura- You are my family too Nikolas.
Nikolas- Don't start that. I'm not interested, Just take themand leave.
Laura- We have decided to stay. I'm not going to leave youagain.
Nikolas- Do you ever listen? She said after the last man dies,the others
would pay! She is going to get her revenge on you! On all ofyou! Can't you see that?
Laura- I'm not running from Helena. I won't give her that kindof control
over me. And I won't let her keep me from you again.
Nikolas- Really? What happened? Why all the sudden do I matterto you? No
don't answer that. I don't care. Just protect my sister andgrandmother.
That's all I want from you.
Stefan- Nikolas, calm down. If it will make you feel better, Iwill
provide security for the Spencers.
Nikolas laughs- How? You are doing everything you can toprotect me and
and she got in here anyway. There is no stopping Helena, youknow that!
Stefan- Nikolas, I will not allow her near you again. I swearit.
Nikolas does not look like he believes him. He looksexasperated.
Nikolas- Do not make promises you can't keep. (He looks atLaura) I've
have enough of those already.
Laura- Nikolas, I know you are angry and upset, but I'm not.........
Nikolas cuts her off. He has obviously reached his limit- Iwarned you,
that's all I can do. So do whatever you want! But not here, getout! Get
out and leave me alone! All of you!
Stefan- Nikolas...
Nikolas- GET....OUT!!
Stefan watches Nikolas for a few minutes through the window.Nikolas
glares back at him. He sighs and turns away.
Stefan- Helena's visit upset him terribly. It cannot happenagain.
Mac- Agreed, but how are we going to accomplish that? I don'tunderstand
how she got in there in the first place. That's why I need toquestion the boy
further.
Miranda- You better hold off on that. I have a feeling Nikolasisn't
feeling very cooperative right now.
Bobbie- Actually, I've been expecting this little blow up. It'snot
surprising after all he's been through. But I expected it to bemuch worse.
Miranda- Me too. I have a feeling he will explode in the verynear future.
Stefan- You are probably right. Too much has happened in thepast few
months.
Laura changes the subject- The question is how are we going tokeep Helena
away from him?
Mac- That's a good question, I suggest we go somewhere andrethink our
security measures.
Stefan- Nikolas does not need to be left alone.
Bobbie - I'll stay with him. I can usually get through tohim.
Stefan- That is because he adores you. And right now, I thinkyour
presence is the only one he will tolerate.
Bobbie- I'll see if he is willing to have my company.
Bobbie goes back into the room with Nikolas. The others watchthrough the
window.
Bobbie- Can I come it?
Nikolas- Did they send you in here to placate me?
Bobbie- No, but we are afraid to leave you alone. Because ofHelena.
Nikolas- I don't want to put you in danger Bobbie. I love youand if you
stay with me, she might hurt you.
Bobbie sits on the bed next to him.
Bobbie- I love you too, that's why I'm staying. And don't worryabout me,
I'm a street fighter remember? General Jones takes noprisoners.
Nikolas smiles at her.
Bobbie - That's more like it.
Suddenly the smile disappears as Nikolas looks away. He issilent and
when he finally speaks, it is in a quite and vulnerablevoice.
Nikolas- I'm afraid for my family. She will do anything to getme back.
How can I let the people I love put themselves in danger forme.
Bobbie puts her arms around Nikolas and pulls him close to her.He allows
her to comfort him.
Bobbie- That's what families do. We stand up for each other andtake risk
for each other. If Lucas were threatened, I wouldn't even thinkof abandoning
him. And I won't abandon you either. You mean too much to me.And Nikolas, it
won't work. You can't push us away.
Laura watches from the window and her eyes fill withtears.
Laura- She really is wonderful with him.
Stefan- Barbara and Nikolas have formed a special bond. I donot know how
he would have made it through the last few months withouther.
Miranda- I thought we were suppose to be discussing security.Let's leave
them alone. Bobbie can get him calmed down without us lookingover her
shoulder.
Mac- Why don't we go to the library?
The group leaves ICU and starts walking to the library. Whenthe get to
the nurses station, Taggert and Dara Jenson are there alongwith a couple of uniformed
officers.
Mac- What's going on here?
Taggert- We have a warrant for the arrest of Dr. Jones.
Laura- You're not serious? What are the charges?
Dara- I don't really think that is any of yourbusiness.
Miranda- I better go get Bobbie. And don't worry, I'll staywith Nikolas.
Miranda runs back to the ICU.
Mac- Okay, I will ask. What are the charges.
Dara- Mrs. Roberts is filing assault charges againsthim.
Mac- She's saying he deliberately pushed her?
Tony Jones just walked off the elevator and Taggert and Daraapproach him.
Bobbie arrives in time to witness the exchange.
Taggert- Dr. Jones I have a warrant for you arrest.
Tony- What? What are you talking about?
Bobbie- Tony? What's going on?
Tony- That's what I would like to know.
Dara- Dr. Jones, Carly Roberts has filed assault chargesagainst you.
Tony- I don't understand! It was an accident, she knowsthat.
Bobbie- She said it was deliberate? Tony?
Tony- Bobbie I swear! It was an accident!
Taggert- Dr. Jones, You have the right to remain silent.Anything you say
can and will be used against you in a court of law. You havethe right to an
attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will beappointed for you. Do you
understand these rights?
Tony-Yes, but I don't understand why you are doingthis.
Laura- I'll call Justus for you.
Tony- I would really appreciate that Laura.
Bobbie- I don't know what to think.
Tony- Bobbie, you have to believe me
Mac- Tony, I think you should talk to your attorney before yousay anything
else. One of the uniformed police officers put the handcuffs onTony. Suddenly
photographer's seemed to appear out of nowhere and begansnapping pictures
of one of General Hospitals renown doctors beingarrested.
Tony is processed and taken to his cell. The guard leads himpast a couple
of cells and stops in front of the third one. He orders theprisoner
already in there to stand away from the door. He unlocks thedoor and
motions for Tony to enter. Tony stares at his new roommate ashe enters the
cell and the door is locked behind him.
Luke- I never expected you to come visit me. They don't usuallylet
visitors back here.
Tony- I'm not visiting. I was arrested.
Luke- Come again?
Tony- You heard me, I was arrested. And before you start, Idon't want to
hear it. Of all the people, they had to put me in here withyou.
Luke feigns insult- Come on ex-bro-in-law, I ain't that bad.What did you
do anyway?
Tony- I didn't do anything, It was an accident. Carly liedabout it.
Luke- Lied about what?
Tony- We were arguing and Carly fell and hit her head. She hada
miscarriage.
Luke- Carly was pregnant?
Tony- Yes. She told them, I deliberately pushed her.
Luke- Did you?
Tony- NO! It was an accident. I can't believe I'm actuallydefending
myself to you.
Tony looks through the cell bars, and down the hall to theouter door.
Tony- Laura said she would call Justus, I wonder what is takinghim so
long.
Luke- Huh? Laura said? What? Is she calling your lawyer fromSwitzerland?
Tony- You don't know? She didn't tell you?
Luke- Tell me what? What happened?
Tony- Laura and Lesley came home this morning. Someone tried tokill
Lesley in Switzerland. You mean she hasn't come to see youyet?
Luke- No, are they all right?
Tony- No one was hurt. Except the nurse who tried to killLesley. She
committed suicide when she failed her mission.
Luke- How do you know about it?
Tony- Laura has been at the hospital all morning. I'm sure shewill come
tell you about it herself. But there's been more trouble.Helena visited
Nikolas.
Luke- It's not my problem. I don't care about that littlebastard. It's
Laura and my kids that I'm worried about. I gotta get out here,so I can protect my
family. And the first thing I'm going to do is get them as faraway from that kid
as possible.
Miranda quietly walks out of Nikolas' room so that she won'twake him. As
she enters the observation room, Mac Scorpio comes in.
Mac- How is he?
Miranda- He's sleeping. What happened with Dr. Jones?
Mac- He was arrested. Somehow the press was alerted and allhell broke
loose.
Miranda- I should have known the press would show up. Where'sStefan?
Mac- He is tied up in a meeting. They are holding a specialmeeting of the
board to discuss the bad PR the hospital is getting from allthis.
Miranda- I'm afraid the hospital will be another casualty ofthe war of the
Cassadines.
Mac- I don't see how Helena had anything to do with Tonygetting arrested.
Miranda- I was talking about the press. Who do you think isbehind the
recent bad press campaign?
Mac- Helena? Why? I don't see what she would have to gain fromit. Why
don't you explain all this to me.
Miranda- You want a motive? I'll give you one. Revenge.
Mac- Because Stavros died at this hospital.
Miranda- Yes, but there's more. This hospital was veryimportant to Steve
Hardy and Helena hated Steve. It was personal.
Sonny's men bring Lucky and Lesley to the hospital to see TomHardy for her
appointment. Lucky has Laura paged when they arrive.
Laura- Thank you for bringing her for me Lucky.
Lucky- No problem. Ruby said Lulu can spend the night with herif you need
her to.
Laura- That's a good idea. I may be here awhile. There's beensome trouble.
Lucky- With Nikolas? Is he all right?
Laura- Yes, he's fine, just shaken up. Helena came to visit himthis morning.
We have to be careful. Nikolas believes we are in danger. Hewants us to
leave and hide from Helena.
Lucky- We can't just let her have him!. .... I ...mean... Imean, we can't
let Helena push us around. We are Spencers, we don't takeorders from
anyone.
Lucky looks away embarrassed at his slip. Laura smiles andfights not to
cry. For first time, she finally has hope that her two sonswill accept each other.
Laura- No, we Spencers won't be pushed around. I need to getmother to her
appointment with Tom. Will you be all right till we getback?
Lucky- Don't worry, I'll keep my eyes peeled fortrouble.
Laura and Lesley go to Tom's office. They tell him about thenurse's
attempt to kill Lesley and Lesley's memories of Helena'svisits.
Tom- So Helena was behind drugging Lesley? But how can you besure Stefan
didn't know about it?
Lesley- Helena liked to torment me about her plans. She knew itwould hurt
me and there wasn't anything I could do about it. She savoredtelling me
the details. She thought I would be under her control forever.Now that
she has realized her mistake, she cannot allow me tolive.
Tom- Why aren't you surrounded by the police? We have to getyou
protection.
Laura- Sonny has guards watching her. But we have decided tomake a stand.
My family spent years on the run from Frank Smith and we willnot be put in
that position again. Besides, where could we go? The Cassadinesfollowed every
step we made while we were on the run.
Tom- I'll do anything I can to help you. Has Lesley made astatement to the police
yet?
Laura- Not yet. We are going to talk today though. Will you bethere, just
in case?
Tom- Of course. I had a last minute cancellation, so I can gowith you
now if you would like?
Laura- Thanks Tom.
Lucky wonders into the ICU. Miranda and Mac are talking quietlyand do not
notice him at first.
Lucky- How's he doing?
Mac and Miranda turn around.
Mac- Lucky, what are you doing here?
Lucky- I brought Grandma to the hospital for her appointmentwith Dr.
Hardy. Mom's with them now, so I thought I would just come seehow he's doing.
Not that I really care or anything.
Miranda studies Lucky a few minutes before answering.
Miranda- He has had an upsetting day, but he will befine.
Lucky peers through the window before he realizes what he isdoing.
Lucky- Looks like he's sleeping, so he can't be thatupset.
Miranda- It's the after effects of the drug Helena gavehim.
Lucky suddenly very concerned- Helena drugged him?
Miranda- Just a sedative, but it has left him groggy. Don'tworry, it will
wear off. I guess she didn't want him to learn how she has beencoming and
going into his room.
Lucky looks through the window again. He tries but fails tohide his concern.
Miranda- Lucky, I know I have no right to ask this, especiallyknowing how
you feel about him, but I need a favor. Would you mind stayingwith him a few
minutes? He refused to be restrained and if he wakes upfighting, someone will
need to be here to call the nurse. Mac has to go back to workand I need a few
minutes to run an errand. I won't be gone long.
Lucky- Sure, I guess I can stay.
Miranda- Thank you, I'll be back in a few minutes.
Miranda and Mac leave the observation room and a few minutesafter they
leave Lucky walks into Nikolas' room and sits by his bed.Miranda and Mac are
secretly watching through the cracked door. Miranda eases thedoor closed and the
two walk away.
Mac- How did you know?
Miranda- I could see it in his eyes. He cares more than he iswilling to
admit.
Mac- Maybe there is hope for the feud to end after all.
Miranda- From your mouth to God's ears.
Mac and Miranda arrived at the library just before Audrey did.They didn't
see her.
Mac- Are you going to finish telling me, why Helena hated SteveHardy so
much?
Miranda places her hand on the memorial plaque dedicating thelibrary to
Steve's memory. She runs her fingers over his name.
Miranda- Because he's..
Audrey- Because Helena and Steve had an affair.
Mac- Audrey! I didn't see you standing there.
Miranda has gone pale.
Audrey- It's all right, no harm done.
Miranda- He told you?
Audrey- Yes, Steve and I had very few secrets.
Miranda- But you were willing to give Stefan the benefit of thedoubt when
he saved the hospital. Weren't you suspicious?
Audrey- Of course I was. Especially with Tom being soconcerned. But that
happened several years ago. A lifetime in fact. Why would shewait until now, after
he was dead to get revenge on him?
Miranda- You don't know my mother. Time is irrelevant toher.
Miranda hesitates a few minutes before she continued.
Miranda- Did he know? Did he know that...I..that hewas...
Audrey looks confused- Know what?
Miranda- Nothing. Nevermind, it wasn't important. I'msorry.
Audrey- If you know something about my husband, I have theright to know it
too. Did he know he was.......what?
Miranda looks away. But Audrey doesn't give up. Suddenly itdawns on her.
Audrey whispers- Did he know he was your father?
Mac- What? Miranda? Is it true?
Miranda- I didn't want to hurt you. I'm sorry.
Audrey sits down and collects her thoughts.
Audrey- I'm not hurt. Steve told be about his affair withHelena. Miranda,
or is it Isabella?
Miranda- Call me Miranda. Isabella died in theexplosion.
Audrey-I don't believe that Steve knew. I'm sure he would havetold me,
especially after what he and Jeff went through.
Miranda- That would be Jeff Webber, my half brother?
Audrey- Yes, yes I guess he is your half brother. Oh mygoodness! Tom!
What will Tom think?
Tom- What will Tom think about what?
Audrey is surprised by Tom's presence.
Audrey- Tom, I didn't know you were there. How long have youbeen standing
there?
Tom- I just got here. Amy said Mac was in here. Laura andLesley need to
talk to him. They are waiting in my office. But what were youtalking about? What
will Tom think about what?
Mac- I think I better go see what Laura wants. Excuse me.Miranda, if you
need to talk later you know where to find me.
Miranda- Thanks Mac, I will.
Mac leaves the library as fast as politely possible.
Tom- Is anyone going to answer my question? What will Tom thinkabout
what?
Miranda- What will Tom think about Steve Hardy being myFather.
Tom- I don't believe you. How dare you come into his library,dedicated to
his memory and slander him that way!
Audrey- Tom! Calm down, it's true. Steve told me about havingan affair
with Helena!
Tom- My father would never have anything to do with a womanlike that! How
can you believe her? She is a Cassadine for God's sake!
Miranda- No, as a matter of fact, I am a Hardy. Like it or not,Steve is
the man who fathered me. Which is more than you cansay!
Audrey- Will you both listen to yourselves? Do you think Stevewould want
you two behaving this way? Haven't you learned anything fromwatching Lucky
and Nikolas? At least they have the excuse of beingchildren.
Miranda- You're right, I'm sorry. Tom, I had no right to makethat remark
about you being adopted. Steve was only the man who fatheredme. But he
was your Father.
Tom- I'm sorry I upset you mother. But I will never believethat my father
had anything to do with that woman.
Tom storms out of the room.
Audrey- Tom!
She looks apologetically at Miranda- He just needs time for itto sink in.
I hope you and I get a chance to talk more about this. Perhapsyou will join me
for dinner?
Miranda- That's very kind of you. I accept.
Audrey- I better go see if I can talk to Tom.
Lucky is lost in thought as he watches Nikolas sleep. He thinksabout his
past relationship with him and for the first time realizes thatboth of them had
been wrong. But at the same time he feels guilty, how will Dadever understand?
At first Lucky does not notice that someone is calling hisname.
Nikolas- Lucky. What are you doing here?
Lucky- I heard what happened with Helena. I just wanted tosee....if you
were okay.
Nikolas- Do you really expect me to believe that?
Lucky- I'm sorry I ever wasted my time worrying aboutyou!
Lucky gets up and starts to leave.
Nikolas- Wait...wait...I'm sorry.
Lucky stops and goes back.
Nikolas- I shouldn't have said it. Okay?
Lucky- It's okay, man. I guess I wouldn't believe you either,if I were in
your place.
Nikolas- Since your father is in jail, you have to protect oursister and
grandmother. My grandmother might hurt them.
Lucky- I heard about the note and the visit. Did she reallythreaten them?
Nikolas- She said she was going to get her revenge, knowinggrandmother it
could mean anything and anyone. But you have to convince Laurato take them
and hide.
Lucky- She's made up her mind, She ain't leaving youagain.
Nikolas- Oh great! Now she decides to stick around!
Lucky- Give her a chance. She loves you.
Nikolas- I can't.....I can't let her get to me again.
It is three o'clock in the morning.
Laura hugs Lesley and Lulu one last time before they go. Luckydoes the
same.
Laura- Beecher's corners never showed up in the Cassadine'spictures of us.
I'm praying they don't know about it.
Lesley- Don't worry, we will be fine. You take care of yoursons. Don't
give up on him Laura.
Laura- I won't. Not anymore. Remember to call on schedule.Sonny's men
will help you and if you need anything call me.
Lesley- I will. You have nothing to worry about. Me and Luluhave these
four handsome men looking out for us. I may decide to keep themwhen this is
over with.
Laura smiles- Okay. You better get going, before I change mymind.
Lucky- Be careful Grandma.
Lesley- You're a sweet boy, Lucky. Take care of your mother,she worries
too much.
Lucky- I will.
Laura watches as Lesley carries Lulu to the car. Laura tries toreassure
herself that Sonny's men do this for a living. They are notlikely to be followed.
But she cannot help worrying. After they leave, Laura tries toact like
everything's fine, for Lucky's sake.
Lucky- Sonny's men know what they are doing. They won't befollowed.
Laura- I know. We better get some sleep. You have schooltomorrow and I
want to see Nikolas.
Lucky- I saw him yesterday.
Laura- You did? How did it go?
Lucky- Okay I guess. He's worried about us.
Laura- I'm glad you went to see him.
Lucky- It was no big deal. I'm going to bed, like you said Ihave school
tomorrow.
Laura smiled to herself as Lucky goes upstairs.
Alan examined Nikolas and decided to move him out of the ICUand into a
regular room. Stefan and Mac arranged for security during thetransfer. As
Nikolas' bed is brought out of ICU and rolled to his new room,it is
surrounded by guards. Dr. Dorman watches as Nikolas' bed ispushed past
him. Nikolas stares at him and something vaguely familiarpushes at his
memory. But he is unable to place it. The hall has been clearedand
blocked off from non hospital personal until Nikolas is safelyin his room.
Nikolas hates all the commotion about him changing rooms but heis
relieved to be out of ICU. The orderlies position the bed intoplace and
lock the wheels and leave. He is pleased to see that his roomhas a window
to the outside instead of the observation
window in ICU.
Stefan- What do you think of your room?
Nikolas- It's fine. I would rather be at home though.
Stefan- Believe me, as soon as you are well enough, I am takingyou home
where it is safer.
Nikolas- You can't protect me forever.
Stefan- No, but I can try.
Bobbie- I'm just glad to see you improving.
Nikolas- Thanks Bobbie. When can I get out of here?
Bobbie- Let's don't rush it, okay?
Nikolas- You can't blame me for trying can you?
Bobbie- No, I can't. You follow the doctors orders and you willbe out of
here before you know it.
Nikolas- As if I had a choice.
Laura knocks on Nikolas' door and walks in.
Miranda is there with him.
Laura- Hello Nikolas. Miranda.
Miranda- Laura.
Nikolas does not answer.
Miranda- Maybe this isn't the right time for this.
Laura- No, it can't wait. Will you leave us alone?
Miranda looks at Nikolas but he doesn't answer.
Miranda- Sure, I'm starving anyway. I'll go to the cafeteriaand eat dinner.
She kisses Nikolas on the forehead.
Miranda- I'll be back in an hour. Try not to upset him.
Laura waits until Miranda is gone before speaking.
Laura- How are you feeling?
Nikolas doesn't answer.
Laura- Please Nikolas, don't do this.
Nikolas- Why are you here?
Laura- Because I love you and I'm worried about you.
Nikolas looks away.
Laura- I know, I have made huge mistakes. And I'm sorry. Can'twe start
over?
Nikolas- Why? So you can leave me again? I don't think so. Whydon't you
just leave me alone. Better yet, take my sister, brother andgrandmother some
where safe. Some where Helena can't get to them.
Laura smiles- Lesley and Lulu are in hiding. I don't thinkHelena will
find them. Did you realize you called Lucky yourbrother?
Nikolas looks embarressed and refuses to answer.
Laura- It's okay to love us, Nikolas.
Nikolas shouts- What do you know about love?
Laura- I know you are angry. But deep down you know that I loveyou.
Nikolas- Get out.
Tears begin to fall down his face.
Nikolas- Please, just leave.
Laura- Okay, but I'll be back later. I'm not leaving you again.And you
can't get rid of me.
Laura smiles sadly at him and leaves. She goes to the cafeteriato find
Miranda.
Miranda- How did it go?
Laura- Not very well, I'm afraid. He doesn't trust me.
Miranda- Can you blame him?
Laura- No, of course not. But this time I'm here tostay.
Miranda- I'm glad to hear that. He needs you more than he iswilling admit.

Laura- I know.
Dr. Dorman opens his locker and looks around to make sure he isalone. He
takes out the prepared syringe and hides it in his jacket. Hecloses the
door and leaves the locker room. He almost runs into RebeccaChase as he
is coming out of the men's locker room.
Rebecca- Hello, Dr. Dorman.
she whispers- Can I see you tonight?
Dorman- Hello Ms. Chase.
He whispers- I have to work, sorry.
Rebecca whispers-When
Dorman whispers- Soon
Dorman walks past her and walks purposely down the hall pastNikolas' room,
taking note of all the guards. He makes his way back to thenurses station.
If he can't get in then he will have to find another way. Hewatches Rebecca Chase
enter the pharmacy room to prepare the patients medications. Hegoes into the
room with her. He notices a trey with Nikolas' name on it. Ithas a small
cup with pills and a couple of syringes on it.
Probably antibiotics or pain killers. Dorman thinks.
Rebecca- Pierce, what are you doing here?
Dorman- I couldn't resist the urge to be alone withyou.
Rebecca laughs as Dorman puts his arms around her- But somebodywill see us.
Dorman- I don't care.
He pull her into a passionate kiss. At the same time he sneaksthe syringe
out of his pocket and replaces one the syringes on Nikolas'trey. He slips the other
syringe into his pocket. He steps back from Rebecca.
Dorman- Your right though. We have to be careful.
Rebecca- I thought you didn't care if we got caught.
Dorman- I know, but we have to be strong. Too much is riding onit. We can
get together tomorrow night. Go somewhere secluded.
Rebecca- That sounds nice. I can't wait to be with youagain.
Dorman- Me too. I have to go, I have an appointment.
Rebecca looks disappointed, but doesn't complain.
After he leaves she continues preparing the patient'sprescriptions. When
she is finished she pushes the medications cart through thedoor. She reads
the charts and gives each patient their required medication.She checks her
watch several times during her rounds. Finally she reachesNikolas' room.
She picks up the trey with his name on it and enters his room.She is relieved to
find him alone.
Rebecca- Time for your meds Nikolas.
She set down the tray and hands him his pills and pours him aglass of
water.
Nikolas reluctantly takes them.
Nikolas- I was hoping I wouldn't need them, since I got out ofICU. Or at
least not so many.
Rebecca- Not a chance, you still have a long way to go in yourrecovery.
She removes the cover from the first syringe and injects itinto Nikolas'
IV. Then she does the second one. Nikolas immediately realizessomething
is wrong as the drug enters his system, but it is too late. Hewhispers
"No" and sinks into oblivion.
Rebecca takes the chair to the corner of the room. She standson it and
pushes up on a
ceiling panel. The panel is lifted up from the other side andRebecca moves
out of the way. In a few minutes a knapsack drops down followedby Jake.
He replaces the panel while Rebecca opens the small bag. Theywork quickly
and quietly, when they are finished Jake hides in the closet.Rebecca
returns the chair next to Nikolas' bed and calls the nursesstation.
Amy answers the phone.
Amy- Second floor nurses station...Alan's not here....Let mesee........
Amy checks the Doctor's schedule.
Amy-......Dr. Dorman is the physician on duty....I'll page himright away.
Rebecca hangs up the phone and checks on Nikolas on last timebefore she
leaves. She makes a point of talking the guard outside. Shetells him
that Dr. Dorman will be checking on Nikolas soon.
Amy clicks the receiver and pages Dr. Dorman. Audrey was aboutto leave
for the evening and was at the nurses stations making a fewlast entries into
the nurses training schedule.
Audrey-Is everything all right?
Amy- I think so, Rebecca wants Dr. Dorman to check NikolasCassadine. She
said he doesn't look right.
Audrey- Oh dear, I hope he isn't having a set-back.
Amy- Me too, poor kid.
Dr. Dorman arrives at the nurses station.
Dorman- I believe I was paged.
Amy- Nurse Chase has asked that you look in on NikolasCassadine. She said
he didn't look right.
Dorman- Didn't look right? Is that a new medical term?
Amy- Don't ask me, I'm just telling you what she said. But Iwouldn't want
to be the one who failed to look in on Stefan Cassadine'snephew.
Dorman- I didn't say I wouldn't do it. I would just like amore
professional terminology from the nurses from now on.
Dorman leaves the nurses station and smiles to himself. He didit. He
finally got the kid. And someone else did the deed for him. Butjust in case the
kid's not gone, he still had a chance at him. He congratulatedhimself for being
such a genius. When he reached Nikolas' room, he tried to lookserious and
professional. He completely ignore the guards as he walked intoNikolas' room.
As the door closed behind him he stopped.
Dorman- What the hell?
He stared dumbfounded at Nikolas. He failed to hear Jake comeup behind
him with syringe in hand. He only felt the sharp pain as theneedle sank deep into
his neck and the burning sensation of the drug entering hissystem. He tried to scream
for help but Jake had his hand over his mouth. He tried tofight, but Jake
was much stronger. In a space of two minutes, Dorman slumpedand was placed
into the chair. Jake, who was wearing surgical gloves, placedthe syringe
in Dorman's hand. He looked at his watch and continued his workas quickly
as possible. When he was finished, he climbed back up into theceiling and
replaced the panel.
Laura and Miranda are returning to Nikolas' room. As the walkpast the
nurses station, Amy stops them.
Amy- Hi Laura, can we talk?
Laura- I'm sorry Amy, but I really don't have time. Nikolas isalone and
we need to get back to him.
Amy- Well far be it for me to waste any of your precioustime.
Laura looks exasperated.- Okay Amy, what did you want to see meabout?
Amy- Lesley, how is she.
Laura- She's fine. But we do need to talk about it. I'm sorry Ihaven't
had much time
lately. When do you get off work? Maybe we can do something?
Amy- I get off in an hour.
Stefan and Bobbie get off the elevator. Stefan kisses hissister.
Stefan- Good evening Isabella. How is Nikolas?
Miranda- I was just about to check. Laura saw him earlier andwe were
giving him some time to let what she said sink in.
Stefan- Was it necessary to upset him again?
Laura- It wasn't like that. He's my son and I have the right tosee him.
Bobbie- So he's alone right now?
Laura- Yes, but surely nothing can happen with the guardsoutside.
Stefan- There were guards in place when Helena visited himbefore.
The four of them hurried to Nikolas' room.
Stefan didn't bother knocking, he threw the door open.
Laura- Oh God! NO!
Miranda- Is he.....?
Bobbie- Nikolas!
Stefan stares at his nephew in shock. He is unaware of thewomen's cries.
Nikolas is very pale. His arms are crossed over his chest. Inone hand he
holds a white rose, in the other a rolled up note. Differentcolored rose petals covers
his body. Dorman is sitting in the chair, dead. He has beengiven
