After Frisco and Sonny leave, Ariel gets ready for bed. Sheputs on a
fuchsia and black silk nightgown and a matching robe. She also hasa
pendent around her neck. The pendent is that of the Cassadine crest.She
returns to the living room area of the her suite and turns on theCD
player. The soft melody's of Celion Dion, "Falling Into You" fillthe
room. Ariel reaches for the phone to call room service for a pot oftea,
when she hears a knock on the door. She wonders which one of them,Sonny
or Frisco, had forgotten something. She goes to the door and opensit.
She turns as white as a ghost when she sees Stefan Cassadine standingin
the doorway. Her head starts to spin and before she realizes it,Stefan is
standing in the middle of her suite and the door is closed again.

"It has been a long time Ariel and you come to town and you don'teven stop
by for tea?" Stefan says in his condescending way.
Ariel has regained her composure and replies, "Well, Stefan, I justhaven't
had time to fit it into my schedule."

"But you have had time to have dinner with Sonny Corinthos." Ariellooks
stunned, but then remembers her encounter with Nikolas at Luke's.Nikolas
must had seen her sit down with Sonny. Stefan continues, "and totell
Nikolas not to tell me you were in Port Charles."

"I see you have trained him well. Does he always report in toyou?"

A pained expression comes across Ariel's eyes. "How is your mother,has
she gone to hell yet?"

Ariel and Stefan continue to spar only touching superficial surfaceissues
between them, though not taking their eyes off of each other.Finally
Ariel says with controlled anger and passion, "I think it is time foryou

again."

rests her head on his chest as he bends and kisses her neck holdingher

While they are kissing, Stefan picks her up in his arms and carriesher

When the morning sunlight starts to stream through the windows ofAriel's
suite, a sleeping Ariel is wrapped in Stefan's arms with her head onhis
chest with a slight smile on her face. Her eyes flutter and open.Ariel
draws herself closer to Stefan if that is possible knowing that thiswill
end in a few hours. She had allowed her heart to rule her actionslast
night. She does not regret being with the only man she ever loved orwill
love, but leaving the relationship again will be difficult. Sheremembers
back to six years ago when the two of them were very happy. They hadplayed
together all over Europe. She has very fond memories of Athens,Venice,
Rome and the yacht. Oh, the yacht . Yes they were happy togetherthen,
until Helena intervened. As Ariel's memories turn to Helena and Parisa
deep sorrow comes into her eyes.
Stefan stirs trying to draw Ariel closer. Ariel thoughts return tothe
present and the man who is lying next to her. She turn her face up tohim
and watches him slowly awake. When Stefan's eyes open he smilesrealizing
that last night had not been a dream. Ariel was lying next to himand
lovingly gazing at him. He start to plant good morning kisses allover
her. Their lips finally met and a hot passionate kiss beginsS
After their lovemaking they had both fallen back to sleep. Arielawakes
again and looks at the clock. She remembers she is to meet AJQuartermaine
in 90 minutes to go over details about the store. The time had cometo end
this transgression into the past. She gently slips from Stefan's armsand
out of bed. She put on her robe that was discarded last night andgoes to
take a shower. She loves Stefan and her heart and soul will always bewith
him, but her mind tell her this can never happen again. With thewater
pounding down on her, Ariel starts to cry uncontrollably at her lossand
about what she must do next. She must be strong and do what is bestfor
both of them. She must tell Stefan to leave her life forever.
Stefan awakes and reaches for Ariel in bed and she is not there. Hesets
up and sees that Ariel is dress and is applying the last touches toher
make-up. "Come back to bed, sweetheart," Stefan coos.
Ariel turns around and sees that Stefan is awake. "No, I have work todo.
What we did last night must never happen again. When I get back Iwant you
out of here and I want you never to contact me again." Ariel gets upand
leaves the room.
Stefan is sitting in bed in shock. What had happened between just acouple
of hours ago and now. What had he done to make her do this to himagain?
"It Is All Coming Back To Me Now", performed by Cline Dion
Ariel walks up to Sonny and Frisco at the entrance to thecatacombs. She
is wearing jeans and a sweatshirt under her coat. Frisco and Sonnyare
also dressed in jeans and sweatshirts. "Well, Sonny, you do ownsome
jeans," Ariel teased. Sonny rolled his eyes as Ariel continued, "Italked
with the Boss this morning. He agrees that Phiasal will probably beusing
the USS Tracey to smuggle the guns to Salerno, Italy. He wants us touse
the catacombs for a base to watch the Tracey. The equipment is to behere
tonight."
"There is an entrance to the catacombs right off Dock 39," Friscoremarked,
"we should be able to find a stop to set up a base of operations andwatch
the Tracey."
"Is he going to sent more agents or are we to man the baseourselves?"
Sonny inquires.
"He's sending someone with the equipment, but wants us to do it forthe
most part. The Boss thinks if too many agents show up here inPort
Charles, we will tip our hand to Phiasal. So that means the three ofus
with the agent he sends will set up the base and man it ourselves.We'll
need to make a schedule so each of us can keep up our covers."
"Well, lets go find a spot that will work for the base. Is theBoss
sending satellite hookup equipment."
"Yes, so we will have to find a stop to mount the dish outside ofthe
catacombs and run the cable to our base. Let's get started." Thethree
agents enter the catacombs and search of a stop that will meet theirneeds.
After some discussion they settle on a spot that would allow them
seclusion, but also accessibility to Dock #39. And with a littlemore
searching they found a place to mount the dish for the satellitehookup.
Frisco looks at his watch, "2:45, I've got to get going. Ipromised
Felicia I will pick Maxie up from school. I'll see you at 10:00 toset up
the equipment. You expect the equipment to be here by then,right?"
"I'm expecting the equipment and agent by 10:30. So, Frisco we willmeet
you here at 10:30. Now go and have some fun with your daughter."
Frisco leaves and Sonny and Ariel does one final inspection of thelocation
that had been chosen for the base. "We can feed the cable to thedish
through here and by tying into the phone cables that run overhead,we
should be able to set up the phone connection, too," Sonny said.
"I'll have the WSB contact the phone company and get us what weneed,"
Ariel stated. They start to leave the catacombs.
"Are you and Frisco every going to tell me who the Boss is?" Sonnyasks Ariel.
"As I have told you it is not my place to tell you. But I can tellyou
this much, the two of you have a lot in common," Ariel smiles at him.As
they exit the catacombs, "I'll meet you here at 10:00."
"With the equipment not being here until around 10:30, why don't youjoin
me for dinner?"
"I don't think I'm up to another dinner at Luke's tonight."
"Tell you what, I'll whip something up at the penthouse for us,"Sonny
tilts Ariel's chin up so he is looking directly into her eyes, "I cansee
you need to talk about last night and Nikolas."
Ariel answers softly, "More than you know." Louder, "Okay, you win;I'll
see you at 7:00 at your penthouse and we can also talk aboutBrenda."
Sonny says, "I don't know about that topic."
"If the Cassadines are up for discussion; so is Brenda." Ariel getsinto
her car and drives away.
Laura enters Stefan's office at the hospital. He is seated behind hisdesk
staring out of the window; he does not hear Laura come in. "Stefan,"she
says softly not wanting to startle him.
He turns to Laura, "Laura, have a seat."
Remaining standing, "What is this about, Stefan? Is everything wrongwith
Nikolas?"
Stefan gets up from his chair and comes around the desk, "Nikolas isfine.
Please have a seat." He indicates towards the chair.
Laura sits down looking exasperated and Stefan sits in the chair nextto
her. "Stefan, what is this about?"
He gets a far off look in his eyes and then returns his gaze toLaura, "I
have a favor to ask of you."
"You know I'll do anything for Nikolas."
Softly, "This isn't for Nikolas, it is for me."
Laura looks skeptical. She knows that Stefan doesn't 'asks' forfavors, he
just takes them. "What do you want?"
"Nikolas told me that he saw you with Ariel Wiseman the othernight."
Interrupting, "Ariel Wiseman, Sonny's friend? Stefan, what is thisabout?
Nikolas was very upset when he saw her. What does she have to do withyou
and Nikolas?"
Stefan takes a deep breath and sits back him the chair. Staring offinto
space he relates to Laura his relationship with Ariel leaving outwhat had
happen the night before and this morning. After he has finished Laurais
stunned. She had no idea that Stefan was capable of those deepemotions,
let alone share them with her. It was at that moment that Laurarealize
that Stefan had moved on from his obsession with her and now viewsher as a
close, trusted friend. "How can I help?"
Softly with a great deal of emotion. "Could you talk to her for me.Find
out what I did that caused her to hate me so?" He turns and looks atLaura
for the first time since he started with his tale. "I would beeternally
grateful."
Laura sees the hurt and the raw emotions he usually keeps wellunder
control, maybe too much under control, in his face. Laura gives hima
small smile and reaches over and takes Stefan's hand in hers, "I'llinvite
her for coffee and a 'get to know you' chat."
"Thank you."
They sit there silently for a few moments deep in their own thoughts.Then
Laura lets go of Stefan's hand and gets up to leave. Just beforeexiting
the room she turns back and looks at the man she thought she knew sowell,
but just found out how little she really knew about the man whoraised her
son. She leaves him to his own thoughts.
At WSB headquarters, Robert supervising the loading of equipmentand
supplies for Port Charles into a pickup truck. He picks up the smalldish
for the satellite hook-up. "Do you have the codes for this?" he asksthe
agent next to him.
"Yes, here they are," handing Robert a small notebook. "Wiseman stillhas
the encrypted phone hook up, she'll need to bring that to thesite."
"I'll tell her," Robert replies.
"I can't believe we has Phiasal this close," indicating the closenessby
holding his thumb and index finger only millimeters apart.
Robert looks at his agent, "That still leaves him some room to slipthrough
if we are not careful."
The agent nods, "Are the arms still in KC?"
"As of an hour ago, yes. I don't expect them to be moved untilanother
couple of days."
The foreman of the loading detail approaches Robert and theagent.
Indicating to the dish, "Should I load that, sir?"
Robert hands him the dish, "Is everything else loaded?"
"Yes, sir," handing Robert the list.
"Good, it will take five hours to reach Port Charles. Better getstarted
if this is going to be there on time."
Ariel inserts her key into the door lock as she hears the phonerings. She
quickly opens the door and deposits the shopping bags she is carryingand
deposits them on a chair and reaches for the phone as it stopsrings.
There is no one on the line. She calls the desk to see if the personhad
left a message, but there were no messages.
She picks up her packages and takes them to the bedroom. She removestwo
new pairs of blue jeans, a couple of turtleneck sweaters and sweatshirts,
woolen socks and a pair of hiking boots. She also pulls out a navypea coat
and scarf. The catacombs were cold and she wasn't going to takeany
chances. She had gone to Wyndham's and gotten the things. Fromanother
bag she pulls out a couple of bags of miniature snickers, boxes ofhot
chocolate and crackers, flashlight batteries, a couple of flashlightsand
Styrofoam cups. The 'essentials' for a stake out. Just as she was
repacking a bag with the 'essentials' the phone rings again. Sheanswers
it, "Hello, Ariel Wiseman here."
The voice on the other end says, "Kangaroo in five," and hangsup.
Ariel leaves her packing and returns to the living room area andretrieves
the encryptic phone hook-up and sets it up. In five minutes thephone
rings again and she pushes the buttons on the encryptic devisebefore
answering the phone. "Hello, Kangaroo."
"Hello, Ariel," an Australian accented voice says. "The equipmentis
leaving here within the next half hour. It should be on the docksby
10:30. Is everything set up on your end?"
"We are just waiting for the equipment. Everything else is ready.Frisco,
Sonny and I will meet the agent with the equipment. By the way whatis the
code for him?"
"Kangaroo. What else?"
Laughing, "Robert, you need a vacation desperately. You are going offthe
deep end."
"Oh, you think so?" Becoming serious, "You'll need to take theencryptic
phone hook-up to the base. The phone company has been contacted andwe'll
have what we need."
"I'll contact you when things are set up."
"Okay, good luck. Good-bye, Ariel."
Good-bye, Robert."
Ariel returns to her packing for the catacombs and then dresses in apair
of the jeans, turtleneck shirt, sweat shirt and the hiking boots.She
pulls her hair back into a pony tail and then throws the hairbrushinto the
bag. Even on stakeouts there is not need for unkempt hair.
As she grabs the new coat and scarf, the phone rings again."Hello."
"Hello, Ariel. This is Laura Spencer."
"Hi, Laura, what can I do for you?"
"I was wondering if you can meet me for tea tomorrow at Kelly's?"
Bewildered Ariel answers, "Well, I guess I could tomorrow afternoon.What
is this about, Laura?"
"I just though the two of us should get to know each other better,now that
you are seeing my husband's best friend."
"Okay, will four work for you?"
"Yes, that would be perfect. Lucky should be home from school and hecan
look after his sister. I'll see you at Kelly's. Good-bye."
"Good-bye, Laura." Ariel hangs up the phone and looks perplexed atit,
wondering exactly why Laura wants to meet her. She gathers her thingsand
leaves for Sonny's.
The door bell rings and Sonny comes out of his kitchen lookingadorable in
his little apron to answer the door. "Ariel, you lookS uh,comfortable."
She enters the penthouse laughing as Sonny closes the door.Hugging
Sonny, "I learned along time ago it is better to be comfortable andwarm on
a stake out like this than fashionable. Now what are you making?"
"My famous pasta and salad."
Following him into the kitchen, "Is there anything I can do?"
"There is a bottle of wine in the refrigerator and the glasses are inthe
cupboard over there," pointing to a cupboard.
Ariel gets the glasses and the bottle of wine and comes over to whereSonny
is working, "A corkscrew."
Getting one out of a drawer he hands it to her, "Here." She opens thewine
and pours them each a glass. She hands Sonny his glass and takes asip
from hers. "The pasta smells really good. When will it be done?"
Sonny smiles at her, "In a few minutes. I hope you don't mind eatinghere
in the kitchen." He starts to make their salads, tearing (notcutting) the
greens. They talk about the case as they eat their dinner.
"You are a good cook. Who taught you to cook like this?"
"If you want to eat, you learn how to cook," Sonny jokes as the twoof them
clean up the kitchen. When this is done Sonny fills their wineglasses
again. "Let's go into the living room."
The two of them carry their wine glasses into the living room andsits on
the sofa facing each other. Sonny looks at Ariel and says, "Now doyou
want to tell me what was bothering you earlier?"
Ariel looks at Sonny. They had been friends for a very long time.She
knew she could tell him anything and he would always be there whenshe
needed him. She took a deep breath and started, "Stefan showed up atmy
suite last night after you and Frisco left."
Interrupting, Sonny asks, "He didn't hurt you, did he?"
"No. He didn't do anything I didn't want him to do last night.This
morning I told him to leave and I never wanted to see him again. Ileft
for my meeting with A.J Quartermaine before he could say anything.When I
got back to the suite he was gone." She takes a long drink of herwine.
Sonny takes her hand into his and asks, "Do you think he will stayaway?"
Ariel shakes her head no. "Do you want him to stay away?"
That jogs Ariel out of her inner thoughts. In a soft whisper, "Idon't
know." He looks deep into her eyes and sees the inner turmoil thatis
going on. Ariel continues, "When he is not around, like now, I don'tever
want to see him again. But when he is near me, I don't want him toleave.
I just want him to wrap his arms around me and tell me that he lovesme and
will never let me go."
Sonny sees the tears filling her eyes as he reaches over and pullsher into
his arms. He kisses her forehead gently and allows her to rest herhead on
his shoulder as she regains her composure. Shortly she pull away fromhis
embrace and smiles at him as if to say, 'Thank you forunderstanding.'
Sonny smiles back and asks, "What does Stefan know about youleaving?"
"Not much. You know more than he does. As far as he is knows we had abig
fight and I walked out and disappeared."
"Are you ever going to tell him?"
"I don't know."
"I don't like, Stefan. Hell, I would love to take him down for whathis
family did to Luke and Laura, but I think he deserves to knowwhat
happened. I know I would."
Ariel starts to defend Stefan, "Stefan can't be held accountable forwhat
his family did. He did not agree with what they did. He tried tobe
Laura's friend while she was on the island. He raised her son as ifhe was
his own after Stavros was killed. He has tried to change theCassadine
legacy from doing evil to doing good."
"But you aren't going to tell him the truth about what his family didto you."
"What good would it do. It wouldn't change anything." Ariel lays herhead
on Sonny shoulder again and allows him to hold her.
After a while, Ariel sits up. "Now a change of subject. What aboutyou
and Brenda."
Sonny gets up to refill their glasses, "There is no Brenda and me.She is
married."
"From what I hear that is over."
"What do you mean?" Sonny asks as he hands Ariel her glass.
"Well, I was in the spa's sauna at the hotel and Brenda was in therewith
Lucy Coe. They didn't realize it was me. You know the steam and
everything. Well, Brenda was telling Lucy that she had found anew
apartment and was moving out tomorrow and filling for a divorce."Ariel
see the twinkle in Sonny's eye when she told him this. She continues,"It
also sounded like I might have some competition for your attention."She
smiles at him. "How much do want me to fight her for you?" Arielasks
teasingly.
"Just because she is leaving Jax doesn't mean she wants me back inher life."
Ariel starts laughing, "You men, I swear you don't get anythingunless a
brick hits you over you head. And then you still may not get it."Ariel
shakes her head. "The only question I see here is: Do you forgiveher?"
"Forgive her for wearing the wire? I did that a long time ago."
"Good. Have you ever told her that?" Ariel looks at Sonny and heshakes
his head no. "I think it is about time you do. When you do youbetter
also tell her you can't live without her and you want her with youfor the
rest of your life."
"You know what I think? I think you need to take your own advice.Maybe
we need to make a pack with each other to keep on each other until wedo
the right thing for the ones we love." Sonny grins at Ariel.
"What are friends for, unless it is to make us do what is best forus."
She leans over and gives Sonny a kiss. (Who says friends can't sharea
friendly kiss.) "This pack will have to wait until this case isover."
Looking at her watch, "It is almost 10:00, we should head for thedocks,
soon. You better change," Ariel tells Sonny.
Sonny and Ariel arrive on the docks. They have parked her car alittle
ways away from the meeting stop. Frisco comes out of the shadowsand
greets them. Then Frisco and Sonny go into the catacombs and with
flashlights find their way to the location that they had chosenearly.
Ariel is left on the dock awaiting the arrival of the equipment.Just
before 10:30 a pickup truck comes up the docks with its lights out.It
stops a few yards away from the Ariel and the driver gets out.Ariel
approaches him and is startled to see that it is Robert. She breaksinto a
grin and greets him with a big hug and kiss as he whispers"Kangaroo," into
her ear.
As he releases her Ariel says, "I didn't think you were coming. Areyou
sure it is safe for you?"
"Yeah, even if someone sees me they won't think twice about it. I'mdead
remember. Besides I thought Sonny should finally meet his boss,"Robert
answers with a twinkle in his eye.
They go around to the back of the truck and Ariel pick up two casesto take
into the catacombs. "I'll take these in and get the guys. Youshould
probably stay here and guard the truck."
"Okay. See you in a few minutes." Ariel goes into the catacombs andthen
returns with Sonny and Frisco in a few minutes.
Robert has grouped the contents of the pickup into four groups. Asthe
three of them approach the truck, he says to them, "Start withthose
things,." pointing to one of the groups. Frisco looks curiously atthe
driver, but then picks up a small crate and carries it into thecatacombs.
Sonny doesn't pay much attention to the driver, but begins to haulthe
equipment into the catacombs.
After several trips only a few items are left on the docks. AsSonny
comes out to get another load, the driver says, "Hey." Sonny looks atthe
driver and as he does the driver tosses him the pickup keys. "Goahead and
lose the truck."
Sonny goes over and gets in the truck and drives it away as Friscoand
Ariel comes out of the catacombs. "Where is the truck going?" Friscoasks.
"Sonny, is getting rid of it," Robert replies.
Frisco looks puzzled and walks over to the driver and in the faintlight
looks at him and then recognition comes over his face as he grabsthe
driver into a bear hug. "Robert." Turning to Ariel, "You didn't tellme
that Robert was coming?"
"I didn't know either until he got here," she answers as she picks upsome
more of the supplies.
"It is nice to see you, too, Frisco. But let's get the rest of thisinside
before someone gets suspicious." The three of them take the finalitems
into the catacombs. As they reach the sight, Robert sees that Friscoand
Sonny have already rigged up some lights. Not many just enough toallow
them to see around the area slightly. "There is no place likehome,"
Robert says as he reaches the base.
"So, Robert, are you going to stay here until this goes down?" Friscoasks.
Robert looks around, "I've stayed in worse conditions. This will befine
as long as you bring me some of Kelly's coffee every morning." Thethree
friends laugh and then get down to setting up the base. The firstthing
Robert did was to tie into the phone lines and to set up thesurveillance
equipment, while Ariel sets up the satellite hookup. Frisco unpacksthe
rest of the equipment. In a short while the base is completed. Thereis a
table where the satellite hook-up equipment, phone and computer isset up.
There are a couple of camp chairs and another table that held a hotplate
and the 'essential supplies.' There is also two cots set up off tothe
side.
"Two cots, Robert? If you think I'm staying here with you, youhave
another think coming. I'm not that kind of girl," Ariel says.

"Someone mentioned my name?" Sonny asks as he come in to the base."You
guys need to be more careful. Anyone could walk up here and youwould
never know."
"Yes, we would." Sonny turns towards the driver. "I've watched youever
since you entered the catacombs," Robert says pointing to thesurveillance
monitors.
Sonny then notices the monitors. "You have the whole placewired?"
"Not all," says Ariel, "but enough. Sonny, I want you to met *theBoss.*"
She turns to Sonny, "Sonny this is Robert Scorpio. Robert this isSonny
Corinthos."
Robert holds out his hand to Sonny. Sonny looks confused, but shakeshis
hand, "I thought you were dead."
"Well reports of my death are premature," Robert replies. "I'm gladI
finally got to met you. I have heard a lot about you from Ariel."
